Spring is an amazing time to fish Fort Lauderdale, we have calmer conditions than winter. Various species of Fish to Target and way more sunshine in the Spring months in Fort Lauderdale. Being born and raised in Fort Lauderdale as a fisherman, we count on our seasonal change for different species of fish to target. In Spring we will catch our winter time sailfish, mixed with spring Tuna, Kingfish, Mahi, and Sharks. Not knowing exactly which fish will bite the hook next is an amazing feeling. People ask me what fish are biting in May and I tend to chuckle, it’s hard to tell what’s going to hit the line next and it’s exciting. We like to kite fish in May, that’s the most productive style of fishing in the spring. Bait of course is going to be goggle eyes and sardines, with these two in spring is hard to not get a bite. We enjoy using all light tackle on The Good Hit boats and some of these fish will take you for a ride. I would suggest the 3/4 day in the morning or afternoon, for the best success rate. One of my favorite fish to target is Black-fin Tuna and we only catch the big ones in spring. They tend to bite early in the morning and later in the afternoon, I personally like the late afternoon, other captains might say otherwise. We haven’t got our Mahi Mahi gear out yet but we are starting to get ready. We get groups that ask if it’s time to head offshore and start the hunt for the Mahi, and I like to wait till the middle of June. Don’t forget to check out all of our boats to get the exact one you prefer .
