Our recent charter with Good Hit Sport Fishing turned into a day that none of us will ever forget. We had the pleasure of hosting 12 year old Noah VanAmeyden and his family, who traveled all the way from West Michigan to experience the world class fishing here in Fort Lauderdale. What started as a quest for some South Florida action quickly transformed into a historic event.
The Battle of a Lifetime
Not long into the trip, Noah hooked into something that clearly outmatched the typical local catch. This was not just another fish on the line. It was a massive, powerful predator that pushed the young angler to his limits. For 45 minutes, Noah displayed incredible skill and stamina, fighting a fish that many grown men would struggle to land.
As the fish finally neared the surface, the crew and family were stunned to identify it. Noah had managed to reel in a Great White Shark.
A Rare South Florida Moment
Seeing a Great White off the coast of Fort Lauderdale is an exceptionally rare occurrence. These legendary apex predators are not common sights in our local waters, making Noah’s achievement even more impressive. After confirming the species and sharing a moment of pure disbelief and excitement, the shark was safely released to continue its journey through the Atlantic.
Noah’s composure during such a high stakes battle was a privilege to witness. It is not every day that a 12 year old goes home with a story that makes national headlines.
