We were a family of 4 (parents and teenagers) who are avid anglers at home and we wanted to catch new ocean species. Our main fish targeted were marlin and mahi mahi.

The captain and mate were efficient at finding the fish and knowledgeable on what to use when and where to find the fish. They made sure we were prepared before we left dock and had what we needed for the day, and would have made arrangements for us to stop and grab anything on our way out if needed.

They kept the boat clean after each catch and took care to release fish that we wanted to. We aren’t a super chatty bunch and neither were they, so that was fine with us. It was SUPER hot out and we rested in the shade between catches if we could. There are really comfortable benches to lay on. They have good seats at the back for reeling in the big ones. The mate was constantly moving about setting up rods and looking for fish and working with the captain.

Would do it again!

If you are looking to catch fish in Cabo, this is the crew. Capital Manuel had us with three Mahi Mahi in the boat within the first hour. We got our limit within the next hour. And then the fun started, Captain Manuel and First Mate Jose spotted a group of six to eight Striped Marlins. Jose hooked one and after an hour and a half we had it in the boat. I say we had it in the boat because it would not have been possible without the coaching of Jose and the great boat maneuvering by Captain Manuel. 102” Striped Marlin will be in my wall in a few months. Thank you Captain and Jose for a great time, you made the trip a lifetime of memories for us.

We had the pleasure of fishing with the best captain and crew in Cabo today! We showed up to a boat that was ready to go fishing immediately, and we’re on under way in minutes( they took care of everything). We headed West and started catching Dorado almost immediately after leaving the marina. The crew quickly switched tactics as we proceeded further out and spent the next part of our trip, putting four marlin on the boat, two of which were being fought at the same time. This is by far the best trip I have been a part of in Cabo. My only regret is I didn’t book the Black Marlin and its crew sooner.

With a very specific objective to complete the Marlin Grand Slam, I booked a charter with Black Marlin Sportfishing for a full-day trip on November 8th, 2023. Immediately after completing the booking procedure, Captain Manuel reached out personally to welcome our party to his list of clientele and provided important logistical instructions to ensure a smooth fishing adventure. Also, given my pre-occupation with landing a striped marlin—the last marlin species on my bucket list—the captain arranged our trip to improved our odds of securing the target species. And did the captain and his first mate, Jose deliver beyond our expectations! We successfully landed and released two beautiful striped marlin who provided us with an acrobatic show and some of the longest tail walks experienced in more than two decades of big game fishing. But the captain and Jose had more in store for us. Perfecting the pattern to long line troll with live mackerel, the strike of a lifetime occurred just 30 minutes after the second striper. After ensuring a solid hook set, I took over on the fight of my life with a 400-pound early season blue marlin on the end of the line. Both crew and angler were in awe as this 11-foot long king of the deep greyhounded in full display over heavy seas—the cover of marlin magazine had nothing on these visuals. Through impressive boat handling and sage guidance from both captain and mate, we were able to land and leader release the trophy after suffering through an intense 90 minute fight on 30-pound class tackle. It was truly a memorable day all of which was made possible by the professionalism and commitment to customer service Captain Manuel and Jose exhibited through the planning and execution of our trip. I would highly recommend them as a priority charter—they will be our first choice the next time we visit Cabo.

Great full day fishing trip November 3rd 2023 on the Black Marlin. Capt. Manuel and Orlando very knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to going after the Marlin. When Capt. Manuel spotted Striped Marlin out front of the boat and Orlando immediately ran to the bow with pole and bait fish in hand and boom FISH ON! after which Orlando high stepped back down the other side of the boat and transferred pole off to me and the battle was on. These guys know how to hunt Marlin. Amazing trip, Black Marlin very clean and comfortable. I’m definitely going back to the Black Marlin. Thank you for a great memory Capt. Manuel and Orlando!
