point blank you should not chose this boat.
1. engine would not start so instead of 6 a.m. departure it was 8 and we returned at 4.  That is 8 hours but we paid for the 9 hour trip that promised 10 hours of fishing.
2.  The entire cabin of the boat is gutted.  the space looks like an episode from hoarders and the massive amount of stuff renders the use of the cabin not possible. hard to even sit at table because of the junk under the table prevented you from putting your legs under the table.  Notice all the pictures but not one of the inside of the boat.
3.  there is no A/c, but the captain lied to the booking company saying a/c was on demand.
4.  red flag when the boat did not have name on the back.  that would indicate it was in the process of being refurbished.
5.  there are holes in the boat frame indicating items were removed but not replace for example and external speaker is now just a hole.
6.  i contacted the captain seeking a refund for the 1 hour shortage of the fishing trip but no response.
7,  the front windows of the boat look dark and the reason is that they are boarded up.  there is no way to see anything through the front windows from inside.
8.  we caught a small yellow fin tuna at 1 foot and they put it on ice but when we got to dock they said it was not worth fileting.  this begs the question why kill the fish if you are not going to eat it?

9. while we only caught the one small fish, that is just fishing since there are no guarantees that you will catch anything.  Captain was less than honest saying it was his worst day of the year when in the reviews you can see other trips caught nothing.  i guess i am just a person that believes when one lies to your face that does not reflect well on that person no matter what the lie is.

so there you have my thoughts on this trip,  you can believe them or not but there are other boats operating out of Haleiwa and your money will be better spent choosing one of them.

since this is a negative review, i expect the captain to respond like he did when he received other negative reviews.  but look at his responses to those reviews .He does not challenge the comments that the cabin was gutted.

Now i can reply to the captain’s response.
1. i was the person who booked the trip and i do live in kailua but when one cannot argue the facts just make a personal attack.
2.  It is easy to counter the claim that the inside of the boat is gutted by posting a new picture showing the inside of the book.  maybe a future customer will do that.
3.  Captain told us at the time that he had a charter the previous day with a bunch of military guys.  so he either lied to us that day or is lying now. if the charter was with fishing booker they could clear up which lie is the lie.
4.  And what were we supposed to do just not pay and not tip the deck hand?  You would have accepted that?  us simply walking away?  clearly not the deck hands fault.  he was not responsible for the poor shape of the book or the trip lasting 8 hours versus the paid for 9.
5.  it is humorous that you do not address the 8 hour trip when we paid for 9 by simply saying it lasted the full amount of time promised.  please explain how leaving at 8 am returning at 4 pm equals 9 hours?
6.  i have no problem with not catching any fish worth keeping, we have gone on plenty of charters and not catching fish is why it is called fishing not catching.
7.  you should not assume that because my friends paid and did not complain that they enjoyed the trip.  they did not.
8.  my one friend said you told him that you would change lures and run the shallower ledge for smaller fish.you made one pass of the ledge but did not change the lures.  When my friend asked about not changing lures you said you did not want to waste the time and just decided to risk snagging the expensive lures on the bottom.  My friend’s comment was that lures were running on the surface so how could they be snagged.  Obviously the bigger lures did not catch ,
