Frequently Asked Questions about Fishing Charters in Hawaii

According to customer reviews, Oahu Pelagic Sportfishing, Hawaii Ocean Adventure Tours FINNATTIC, and Konadice Sportfishing are some of the most popular fishing charters in Hawaii. Full list of top fishing charters in Hawaii.

The average price for a private 4 hour Hawaii fishing trip is $790, while an 8 hour private trip will cost you $1,166 based on prices on FishingBooker.com.

Oahu Pelagic Sportfishing, Hawaii Ocean Adventure Tours FINNATTIC, and Konadice Sportfishing all received great reviews from families who booked fishing trips in Hawaii.

The most popular fish species you can target are Корифена (махи-махи), Тунец (желтоперый), and Ваху (колючая пеламида). Top fishing techniques include Троллинг, Тяжелые снасти, and Лайт. Offshore fishing, nearshore fishing, and reef fishing are commonly offered by local guides.

Want to cast a line in paradise? Hop aboard one of the many fishing charters in Hawaii. There’s postcard-perfect azure waters and white sandy beaches to explore, as well as some world-famous fish on offer. Hawaii is a known deep sea sportfishing haven, but that’s not where the action ends. With reefs, flats, and freshwater fishing grounds on offer, you can cast off on the adventure of your dreams.

Head out on a deep sea fishing excursion, and you’ll encounter year-round Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, and Billfish. In some locations, the seafloor drops to a thousand feet just a mile from shore. To get the most out of your adventure, though, a full day trip is a must. More of a reef fishing enthusiast? Plumb underwater structure for local bottom fish including Long-Tail Red Snapper (Onaga) and Short-Tail Red Snapper (Ehu) on a shorter trip.

If you want to spend even less time traveling, explore Hawaii's flats for Bonefish. A half day trip is the perfect introduction to these waters, and you can even try out fly fishing. There’s plenty of inshore action for freshwater fans, too. Largemouth Bass, Peacock Bass, and Channel Catfish can be found in a variety of reservoirs and waterways, with half and full day trips on offer.

There’s an impressive number of departure points dotted all over the Aloha State. Big Island’s Kailua-Kona offers incredible deep sea action, Maui is home to lots of reefs (and spearfishing action!), Kauai has a great Billfish bite as well as an abundance of freshwater fish...the opportunities are endless!

Правила и положения

You don’t need a license to fish in Hawaii, unless you’re freshwater fishing. Some species are subject to strict regulations, such as Onaga and Ehu, but your captain will be able to fill you in.

Know any fishing anywhere is subjected to luck. You need to plan on having a good time and be pleasantly surprised if you get a catch. You never know if you get one or not anywhere so take that into consideration.

If you have never done it before eat some ginger or take a Dramamine the seas are the seas the rough but not crazy. First word advice. If you’re not used to it don’t drink on the boat I’m talking alcohol that is otherwise have a great time.

The fishing could be slow it could be fast you are indeed taking a risk whenever you go but I beleave you have good chances going on this charter. Prepair for big waves and lots of rocking, it will be very difficult to stand on your own without a firm handhold. Be ready to help when called on beacuse it will happen at a moment's notice.

Just get out there! Book ahead of time - they fill up quickly. It is great fishing conditions most days, and any bad weather tends to blow through quickly. I was there 12 days, and could have fished every day with no problems. Bring your own food and drink, but dont get drunk - if you aren't used to the water, you will likely get sick if you are drunk.

North Shore fishing is not like mainland fishing and can get a bit rough. Take your Dramamine the night before if you even remotely think you might get sea sick. The upside is there are some mighty big sea creatures in those waters with some really beautiful scenery!!!

Reeling in a marlin is a “bucket list” experience. If you’re looking to take home fish you should look for a boat that is targeting smaller fish. If you want to take your chances to catch the fish of a lifetime and look for Marlin then I highly recommend five star fishing.

I came in late November, so fishing was slowing down. I expected that, but it was actually a great day to go fishing and we caught Mahi-Mahi and Tuna. Great place to go and not crowded.

We had a wonderful trip with Skillet Sport fishing! We went on a 4 hour morning trip and caught one short billed spear fish! This was very exciting! We had a wonderful time talking with John and Dan. John was very responsive to all my questions and messages prior to the trip. We would absolutely do this again! Dan cut the fish up for us to take home at the end of the trip. This was a wonderful time, I definitely recommend using skillet sport fishing!

Good trip we caught several nice sized skip jacks. They put up a great fight and captain Jim knew just where to go to put us on the fish. We were also hoping to catch a yellow fin tuna or a marlin but it’s about being in the right place at the right time. The captain also let us climb up to the top deck and enjoy a beautiful view of the ocean and the island coastline.

High Noon Fishing delivered! Captain Dave and Darren were great to work with from the start. Accommodating, welcoming and explained everything thoroughly. By the end of the trip, we caught a large Wahoo and a skipjack tuna. We also had a blue Marlin on, which was a thrill, but lost it. For a slow fishing month, we were thrilled with our results! The boat was great they provide the gear and bait. The issue was it was a windy day only 2 rods caught anything. I would like to think that they have the gear to pick up schools of fish. Or have a better understanding of where to go for fish. This is the first charter that I have been on that didn't limit out. My group fortunately was one that did hook a fish but like I said only 2 out of 15 caught anything. I would just suggest better spots next time.

I had seen some negative comments about the charter, but they are unfounded. I have been on more charters than I can count. The Captain and first mate were amazing. They searched for the fish, and out of the other charters we were the one to catch an amazing yellow tail tuna! The boat was nice, and the Captain was very knowledgeable. If you decide to choose another charter, you have done yourself an injustice. I will be booking with Captain again! Mahalo -Robert

Although we did not land any fish during our 1/2 day trip in Mid-May, we did enjoy or adventure and appreciate the dedication by our caption and crew to try and get us on a fish. We did hook what appeared to be a sailfish that did not stay on for long but provided some excitement and talk of "what could have been". I recommend the boat "Ruckus" and their team. Thanks again!

Choppy but Captain knew what he was doing. Slow fishing but you can't do anything about that. The Captain tried to find the birds...but they were nowhere to be seen. Nevertheless, hooked a blue marlin only for it to unhook on what had to be a 6' jump!
