I only get to NMB every two years and was really looking forward to my outing, but Captain Ron cancelled my trip because everyone else cancelled. Said he’d get me on another outing the next day. We show up to the boat marina 30 minutes early the next morning. He mumbled and complained about the business and said he’d try to get us on a private chartered outing. I watched him and he didn’t even ask. Just left for 15 minutes, came back and told us no luck. I got my deposit back, but that’s cold comfort for getting shafted on fishing.

Was not a good trip. Was not given the option to catch and release. We took the trip for the experience, not for a meal, which the experience was pretty much a boat ride. The few fish that were caught were extremely small, felt like it was a waste of money. Would not recommend this charter!
Mike you did a mixed charter for 85.00 a person with other people on the boat that day Samantha left a 5 star review. Im confused that she had a great time and caught a lot of sharks fishing right beside you on same boat.
Trip was a nightmare. Boat was not as described, I had an elderly man on oxygen with me and there was no chair for him. He was not helped onto the boat, was told he could sit on the hatch which was 6 inches off the floor with no cushion. There were no benches or handles. I told them I couldn’t swim but was not offered a life jacket, none were passed out. The only instructions were don’t fall overboard but we will come in after you if you do. The ocean was so choppy and swells so big we were literally lifted off the hatch several times at the speed the captain was driving. I stood and held on to a rail with my daughter and was screaming in fear. The motor was so loud no one could hear me. My other passengers had been drinking and thought it was fun, like a roller coaster at Carowinds, but I knew if I let go of the rail and went over no one would know in time to save me. When we finally stopped, I was violently ill with seasickness, throwing up and hanging on to the side post so I didn’t fall in. I was not offered a bottle of water or a paper towel. My elderly friend was trying to get up and go inside and was not helped by anyone. There was no air conditioning in the small cabin. I finally stopped vomiting long enough to try for the bathroom and was told by Captain that was the worsrt place to be and he was right. I was thrown side to side and was only able to grab some toilet paper to wipe my nose and mouth. I made it back to the hatch to lay on the floor and crew did ask if I wanted to call it off, I said no because my family was trying to fish. I was paying almost 500$ and wanted them to have a good memory although I was sick as a dog! After about an hour of trying to Fish, my daughter laid down on the hatch and said she was getting sick too so then I told crew I’m calling it. We did immediately turn and head in at a very high rate of speed and at this point I could barely lift my head and didn’t care. I just wanted off that damn boat! My elderly friend never was able to Fish because he couldn’t stand up with the swells hitting us. My other family did think it was ok because they were drinking and young. I paid the captain and he said I did good compared to the morning trip who were all sick. He should not have taken us out knowing how rough the conditions were and he should have told us the morning trip was rough and they were sick. I guess he must really be desperate for the money to treat his passengers this way. I paid him and gave 50$ tip for his crew member, he was the only one friendly and did offer to jump in if I fell off but I saved for this trip and wanted nice memories but it was the trip from hell for me.

Karen hi this is Capt Ronnie owner of fish hook charters . Sorry you felt you had to leave a review like this . All the charter boats in the surrounding area had no trouble fishing during your trip,my other 2 boats had a great time fishing that afternoon . It does tend to be windy in afternoon trips than morning with sea breeze. Ocean going boats have big diesel engines in them which are louder than a car engine would be or outboard. Some people are not cut out for ocean fishing and if I knew you had a elderly man on the boat with a oxygen tank I would have never let Capt leave the dock.
