We had an extremely busy weekend. There was a northeast wind and large mayfly hatch Friday night which made the fishing on Saturday morning very slow. I was marking fish, just couldn’t get them to bite. Sheephead with the occasional walleye kept the customers busy. We finished the day with 8 walleye.

Today we hosted US Army veteran John Cooper as the winner of the free charter we gave away from a couple weeks ago. John brought his son Brandon, grandson Mason, and a friend of Mason’s along for the day. The weather didn’t play nice leading to a couple queasy stomachs fairly early into the trip. We were able to boat 10 keepers and another dozen shorts before we decided to call it after a little more than an hour of fishing. When we got back to shore, John’s fish were cleaned free of charge by Al Szuch Live Bait.

Walleye fishing continues to be fantastic. Customers caught thier limit and half of the captains(captains limit split between 2 trips today). Trolling Michigan Stinger Scorpion sized spoons behind Tru Trip 40’s back 35’-50’ at 2.3mph is the ticket. We had a couple 26” fish this morning.
