Walleye Wind and Waves This crew worked through tough conditions to box 30 Walleye.

Mike, Craig, Kurt have been with us several times. This time they brought Clay as well. We opted for a late start to let the overnight wave begin to settle. We headed West of the Islands into a mix of 3 to 4 foot waves. I turned the boat and began to set lines 60 to 70 unassisted and 20/55 with 2oz on Bandits and 40 to 50 on PWCs. Both were firing right away. At least when the wind was present. On the corners we ran Dipsey 3 setting with BADMO LURES Arrowhead spoons and Rapala FJ 7s behind Big Fish Tuff Tackle Co. TruTrip 50s. Settings were from 22 to 42 back. I varied these throughout the day. Speed was 2.1 mph Then all of a sudden the wind stopped and so did our bite. We picked away and changed out a few baits to Flicker Minnow 40 to 70 back unassisted. We finished a few short of a limit. We would all have been reelers had the fished remained hooked up until they were within reach of the net. Colin and Crew were rescheduled from late 2023 due to high winds and waves. We head west of the Islands at sunrise knowing we would be eventually be greated with a line of showers that would last about 2 hours. The back side of the rain had wind that quickly went above 20 mph with stronger gusts. The Walleye were awesome to Colin, Jeremy, Bob and Sam. Off Shore Tackle Company boards running Bandit Lures and Dead Eye Crank Baits at 65 back unassisted and 55 back with 2 oz snap weights. Colin captured his 1st Fish Ohio qualifier a 28.5" Walleye.
