We departed Cabo San Lucas at 6:00 AM, heading toward the Lighthouse area. After trolling for approximately 2 miles, we adjusted our course and made our way toward La Herradura. While working the area, a mahi mahi (dorado) struck a Flying Fish trolling lure, giving us our first fish of the day. We then continued toward the 95 Spot, where the bite stayed active. Before reaching the area, we landed two additional mahi mahi, one of them taking a Petrolero lure, bringing our total to three dorado on board. With a great catch already secured, we turned back toward the bay. On the way in, the highlight of the trip arrived when a beautiful striped marlin attacked the spread. After an exciting fight, we successfully landed the fish, making for an unforgettable day on the water. On June 5, we headed south from Cabo San Lucas, working the 3-mile line along the coast. As we passed Cabeza de Ballena, we spotted a striped marlin on the surface. We pitched a live bait to the fish and made several presentations, but despite showing interest, the marlin refused to commit. We continued working the coastline, trolling parallel to shore all the way to Cerro Colorado, covering productive water and searching for additional activity. On the return run, while fishing off Santa María Bay, a mahi mahi struck a ballyhoo rigged bait (rigger bait). On June 3, we departed Cabo San Lucas and headed toward the 95 Spot, one of the area’s most productive offshore fishing grounds. Along the way, we encountered two striped marlin on the surface and presented live bait to both fish. Despite several attempts, neither marlin committed. Upon arriving at the 95 Spot, we found even more billfish activity, spotting two additional pairs of striped marlin. Live bait was again presented to the fish, but they remained selective and refused to bite. Continuing beyond the 95, persistence finally paid off when a striped marlin aggressively struck a rigged dead bait (rigger bait).
