Today we departed the marina at 6:00 AM, welcomed by a beautiful Cabo sunrise as we began trolling immediately after passing the iconic Arch of Cabo San Lucas. Just beyond the Arch, we spotted multiple mahi mahi jumping on the surface, showing great early activity, although none committed to the spread. From there, we continued toward the Lighthouse area, searching for additional offshore action. After not finding productive activity on that side, we adjusted our strategy and headed toward the 95 spot. Once at the 95, the action finally turned on — a striped marlin aggressively struck the spread, leading to an exciting fight that lasted approximately 30 minutes before we successfully brought the fish to the boat. On the run back toward the marina, we hooked another powerful fish that appeared to be a wahoo, but after a brief battle, it managed to escape before landing. We returned to the marina around 1:00 PM with a successful day offshore and one striped marlin landed. ⸻ Conditions: * Beautiful sunrise and calm early-morning conditions * Active mahi mahi surface activity near the Arch * Productive offshore water around the 95 spot ⸻ Summary: An exciting Cabo offshore trip featuring: * 1 striped marlin landed * Multiple mahi mahi sightings * Possible wahoo hookup lost near the end of the trip A classic Cabo fishing day full of changing conditions, offshore action, and an unforgettable marlin fight.

On May 25, we headed toward the Pacific side, working approximately 1 mile offshore until reaching the Pueblo Bonito Pacífica area, where we changed course south and continued out to around 3 miles from shore. While positioned off Pedregal, a mahi mahi struck the rigged dead bait (rigger bait), resulting in our first successful catch of the day. Continuing in the same direction and passing off Cabeza de Ballena, another mahi mahi hit a ballyhoo rigger bait, but unfortunately escaped before landing. As we continued offshore, we encountered approximately 12 striped marlin throughout the area. We cast live bait, worked trolling lures, and deployed rigged baits, but despite multiple presentations, none of the marlin committed. On the run back toward port, off Cabeza de Ballena, another mahi mahi struck a “tigrillo” lure, but came off once it reached the leader. Immediately after resetting the spread, we hooked into a pair of jack crevalle, both of which were successfully released healthy. ⸻ Conditions: * Strong marlin presence offshore * Active mahi mahi throughout the day * Selective feeding behavior despite heavy surface activity ⸻ Summary: A technical offshore trip featuring: * 1 mahi mahi landed * 1 mahi mahi released * 1 mahi mahi lost * 2 jack crevalle released * Multiple striped marlin sightings and bait presentations Another action-filled day in Cabo waters with heavy marlin activity and steady inshore pelagic action along the Pacific side.

On May 24, we departed Cabo San Lucas running south. At approximately 3 miles offshore, a mahi mahi struck a ballyhoo bait, giving us an early catch. We then changed course east toward the 95 spot, and after running approximately 2 more miles, we landed a second mahi mahi. Continuing in the same direction, we encountered four striped marlin on the surface, but despite multiple bait presentations, none committed. A few miles later, the offshore activity intensified dramatically as we spotted approximately eight marlin consecutively, including a pair traveling together. Based on earlier behavior and realizing the fish were refusing live bait, we decided to completely change strategies. Using an East Coast-style marlin trolling setup, we deployed: * 5 rigged dead baits (rigger baits) * 2 teasers * 1 dredge teaser system We also reduced trolling speed to approximately 4–5 knots to create a more natural presentation and maximize marlin interest. The adjustment immediately produced results. We had three separate marlin follows, and after several aggressive approaches, we successfully hooked and landed one striped marlin. ⸻ Conditions: * Heavy surface marlin activity offshore * Fish highly selective on live bait * Excellent blue water and productive offshore conditions ⸻ Summary: A highly technical and exciting offshore day featuring: * 2 mahi mahi landed * 1 striped marlin landed * Multiple marlin sightings and teaser follows An excellent example of adapting offshore strategy and using advanced marlin trolling techniques to turn surface activity into a successful catch in Cabo waters.

On May 23, we departed Cabo San Lucas running a heading of 230°. At approximately 4 miles offshore, a mahi mahi struck a blue and white “Blue Flyer” trolling lure, resulting in our first successful catch of the day. We continued working the 5 to 6-mile line, where offshore activity started building. Shortly after, a striped marlin began aggressively tracking the trolling lures but refused to commit. It wasn’t until Luisito pitched a live bait that the marlin finally attacked, leading to a successful hookup and release. While fighting the marlin, another opportunity developed. After spotting around four marlin in the area, we decided to leave a live bait in the water. During the marlin fight, a mahi mahi unexpectedly struck the bait, giving us another fish on simultaneously. On the run back toward port, approximately 1 mile off Pedregal, a third dorado hit a “tigrillo” lure, completing the final catch of the trip. ⸻ Conditions: * Active offshore marlin presence * Good trolling conditions along the 5–6 mile line * Productive blue water close to Cabo ⸻ Summary: An exciting offshore trip featuring: * 3 mahi mahi landed * 1 striped marlin released * Multiple additional marlin sightings and live bait action A highly productive Cabo fishing day with nonstop action and successful multi-species fishing offshore.

On May 22, we started the trip running south out of Cabo San Lucas, where we encountered three striped marlin on the surface early in the day. Multiple live bait casts were made to the fish, but none committed. After covering approximately 6 miles, we changed course east. About 4 miles later, we received reports of additional marlin showing on the surface roughly 3 miles off Cabo San Lucas Harbor, so we turned back to investigate the area. Once there, a marlin aggressively struck a gray and black trolling lure, but failed to stay hooked. We continued working northeast, staying persistent through the area, and after some time, a dorado finally committed to the same gray and black lure, resulting in a successful catch. ⸻ Conditions: * Multiple marlin sightings on the surface * Selective feeding behavior throughout the trip * Good offshore visibility and active water ⸻ Summary: A technical offshore day featuring: * 1 dorado landed * Multiple striped marlin sightings * Several close marlin encounters and lure strikes Another classic Cabo fishing day where patience and persistence eventually paid off offshore.

On May 21, we headed toward the Pacific side, reaching the area in front of the Pueblo Bonito Hotel, where we changed course toward the southeast. Shortly after passing Pedregal, a mahi mahi struck a green and yellow trolling lure, similar to the colors of the Brazilian flag. After a solid fight, we successfully landed the fish. Continuing in the same direction, off the Cabo San Lucas hill area, another dorado hit a ballyhoo bait, but unfortunately came off before landing. On the way toward the 95 spot, we encountered a large school of mahi mahi, with heavy bird activity and flying fish in the area. Several fish aggressively followed the trolling lures but refused to commit. Once at the 95 spot, another dorado struck a blue and white lure with a yellow stripe, but the fish came off just as it reached the boat. Past the 95, we had a violent strike from a wahoo on the rigger bait. With a single bite, the fish cut the bait in half, taking most of the green jack baitfish with it before escaping. During the run back to port, we spotted two marlin on the surface, but both ignored the bait presentations. ⸻ Conditions: * Active offshore bait activity with birds and flying fish * Good water conditions throughout the day * Aggressive but selective feeding behavior ⸻ Summary: An action-filled offshore day featuring: * 1 mahi mahi landed * 3 additional fish lost near hookup/boat * 1 aggressive wahoo strike * 2 marlin sightings A technical Cabo fishing day with constant action, multiple opportunities, and strong signs of offshore life throughout the trip.
