The Georgia fish! To further my quest to catch a fish in every state and with my shore fishing struggles last weeekend in Kansas and Missouri I sought out to meet a fisherman captain with a boat. It turns out there is an app for that and I met Malik on fishingbooker.com. Ha! He caught my eye and stood out among the crowd because his business is called Fishing For Hip Hop.
He told me he is the Founder and Certified Fishing Instructor of “Finding Inspiration-Sharing Hope, Inc.” (F.I.S.H, Inc.) non profit organization as well as, a certified fishing instructor for the “Hooked on Fishing-Not on Drugs” national program in the Metro Atlanta, Georgia area. Malik has a youth program called “Community Fishing League” (C.F.L) which is a neighborhood fishing tournament based program
Sheri Macker Clos and I woke up at 6am in downtown Atlanta and drive and hr and 20 minutes the Yellow Jacket Boat Ramp on West Point Lake in Lagrange to meet Malik. When we arrived he said he had gotten up at 4am and arrived early to scout out the lake for fish to give us a great experience.
We caught catfish (first time!), spotted bass, and striped bass which was pretty cool.
I asked Malik what he did when not fishing and in a odd coincidence he told us he is a full time real estate investor with 4 residential properties and 1 commercial property so then we spent 5 hours talking fishing and real estate. All and all a great Saturday morning!
