The weather was as cold as it gets in S Florida yet Cap Fred Gowdy had us on Fish most of the day. We didn’t expect much but he worked his butt off to get me and my son on the spots. We caught a half dozen different type of fish yet the only one I really wanted was a Snook. That was my first catch of the Day. We caught Snapper, Sheepshead, Snook, Catfish, and a Bonnethead Shark. You could say it was luck but I think it was the hard work that Fred Gowdy Charters put into it. Very very happy.

We are 2 adults and a 9 year old. All inexperienced. Jeff was great with our (occasionally grumpy) 9 year old. He was knowledgable and took us to several spots. The fish were not cooperating at first but Jeff just kept it moving, and eventually found a great spot were we caught a few big enough to take home.

Captain Goudey is what you’re looking for in a guide. Personable, knowledgeable, and somebody you actually enjoy spending the day with.
We had a nice day for early February and he was able to put us on fish in several different ways over the course of a half-day charter. Lots of fun.
His boat is the perfect ride for getting in the skinny water and boogieing across the bay.

Fred was a great boat captain. He was super friendly to me, my 8 year old son and my uncle, taking us around to several spots he knew would yield fish. My son also caught a 8lb black drum fish and he was so proud. Highly recommend Fred, he was great!

On vacation from the UK, I chose Capt. Gowdy based on reviews on Fishing Booker.  I spoke to Fred pre-trip and we decided that 4 Hour Trip – Peacock Bass & Snook trip fitted my son and I best, due to high water temps in bay and our best chance to catch fish. (one point to note is if you take this option you will need to purchase a 3 day freshwater licence from go outdoors florida). We caught multiple Peacock and Large Mouth Bass and 1 Gar using several techniques. The Golden Gate canals are not the prettiest but we knew that upfront and enjoyed our time on the boat with Capt. Gowdy, who was very good, helping my son to land the fish, and taking photos. Thanks again.
