First time learning to fly fish. The captain taught me how to use a fly rod and what to do. I was able to catch a lot of Striped and Largemouth Bass with the fly rod. For anyone who is looking to learn how to try fishing with a fly rod I recommend wholeheartedly. What you should know is that it is all about fly fishing and it is catch and release. Also make sure to bring a physical copy of a fishing license and if you get thirsty he has cold water that he brings so that you don’t have to bring a water.

Thank you Oliver, it was a pleasure to spend the day with you on the Delta yesterday. You did a great job learning and I’m so glad you enjoyed the day. Wow, wasn’t that exciting seeing those Largemouth come up and smash the fly? How about the strength and speed of the Stripers and feeling their power directly through the line, now you see what we Fly Fishing nuts are so addicted to! Captain Mark was very patient showing my son and I the ropes of fly fishing for Stripers. After a short session of practicing some technique, we headed out to the open water to fish the outgoing tide. We were on the fish from the get go. Over the course of the day we pulled in many stripers, and even a sizeable large mouth. All released. Even though I picked what happened to be the first really hot Saturday of the season, Captain Mark found places away from the crowds of boats. What a way to celebrate my son’s birthday by seeing him catch a striper on a fly rod.

It was my pleasure introducing you and your 12 yr. old daughter to this wonderful sport of fly fishing! The excitement of seeing those hungry Largemouth Bass attacking our surface poppers is something that never gets old and is always heart stopping, especially right next to the boat like a couple times we witnessed. At the end of the day, while we briefly discussed future trips, your daughter said, “Next week” ! Her landing those beautiful Bass on her first trip is proof that age and gender play no part in fly fishing success, girls do as well as boys and often catch on even a little quicker. This actually holds just as true for men and women, this is not a strength sport but a timing and technique sport, and that’s what I specialize in. Capt. Mark and I had an awesome time exploring one of his favorite trout streams. In addition to introducing me to beautiful trout water I didn’t even know existed, he had me roll casting and nailing flawless drifts within a couple hours and I hooked approx 15 fish over the course of the day. I really enjoyed his approach and technique for trout fishing as well as his passion for his local waters. Capt. Mark Pinto is an excellent teacher and a great hang, highly recommend letting him take you out and show you and thing or two
