What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Newport, Oregon for the first time?

Can be busy book early. If you decide to ship fish home be wary of hours the shipping place is willing to assist you in this endeavor. Next time i will just take fish on plane w me - was not an option the first time due to government shutdown concerns.

it was great to be able to fish closer in. and not having to go several miles out and Back. we were crabbing with in 30 min and fishing another 30 min out. Joe, from Good Time Charlie Fishing was great and was able to geat more our of the trip than just fishing.

This trip was the best trip i have ever booked. The captain and deck hand we're great people, very personable, friendly, funny and checking to make sure you had everything you needed. The boat was clean and overall in top shape. It was a great trip. This trip was the type of trip you away hope for when booking trips. Yes i will be back as many times as time and money allows.

Absolutely! It is important to remember which dates you are and aren't allowed to keep Chinook and wild Coho though because you may have to release some. Just check the regulations but our Captain knew what we could and couldn't catch of course.

If you are not sure which boat to go out on. This is a home run had the boat limited out in 90 minutes very fun time wife loved the trip she was nervous at first but Lyle commed her nerves and had a great time she’s only complaint is her arm is sore from all the relling in fish.

Make sure the boat uses a fish finder to locate bottom fish. If you have men and women in your group, make sure the boat has a bathroom. If you go on a smaller boat be sure to use motion sickness medicine.

Dress in layers. We followed this advice from Capt Greg and we were so grateful. The weather in the Pacific NW can change quickly. We lucked out with the weather. It wasn’t sunny, but it wasn’t raining either.

I would not recommend this captain for ADA access or for tourist. Not super friendly or helpful to newer anglers to the ocean. I would recommend researching the captains and vessels to make sure they have what you want.

We were told the day we went fishing that they had been having ify weather but the day we went out was great. No wind, fairly warm, no rain. Easy access to the marina. Fish cleaning stations are great.

I can only give it 2 stars only because of the weather at the time I was there, but I’m quite sure when the weather is good it’s a great time there! No one can predict the weather and there no one here to blame just unfortunate timing.

We had so much fun. We learned alot about fishing. Fisher David was so much fun and highly professional and I was not afraid at all. Would recommend a fishing trip to anyone. We booked it again next month.

Just make sure you know what you are booking if you are from the East Coast. The charters in the East head out a lot further than the West coast ones do, apparently. Besides that, have fun. It will be a great experience.

Be prepared, wear rain gear and layer clothing and shoe that don't slip when wet.

Great Captain, easy going and explained everything. Will be going agsin in future.

If you are on a smaller boat, definitely error on motion sickness medication, even if an experienced fisherman. (Emphasize taking it the night before and that morning)

For it being my first time fishing at Newport I will definitely be coming back to fish with my man Joe at Good time Charlie.

Listen to the captain! He knows what he is doing! And as always safety first! And a pile of fish later.

I would recommend all people to fish in new port and especially with Donald he was kind and professional

Depending on what you want to catch, I would recommend checking to make sure it’s in prime season.

We came from out of state. We were hoping for a great experience and we got it! Captain Lyle made that happen.Highly recommend. We will definitely repeat!

Fishing for Coho was great. We all hit our limit plus several more wild salmon that we were not allowed to keep.

If you tend to get motion sickness, this might help. 1 chewable Bonine at bed the evening before, 1 upon waking, 1 before boarding the boat.

Even though it was a nice & sunny day, rough ocean made it difficult to fish. We did catch a few fish. Our guide gave it a valiant effort!

Be aware and listen to the captain of day trip needs to change due to weather. He is willing to work with you.

Fishing was good but again nature is in control and anyone that goes needs to be able to handle disappointment as well as over excitement about catching what they go for.

Take dramamine the night before. My son and I were fine but brother got a little seasick.
