Fishing reefs calls for heavy, abrasion resistant line and stiff rods. So does trolling. If you are fishing the bottom though, heavy tackle prevents you from feeling the nibbles of the under 8 ounce fish that you are likely going to be catching. (At least, that is what we experienced.) I am accustomed to using the lightest tackle that is appropriate to the situation. The largest fish we came across on our trip was about 1/2 lb. The bottom is very sandy and soft with little cover so that is to be expected. Reefs are likely to yield larger predators so upscale the tackle. You will likely still catch your share of small ones but you'll also be ready when the bigger ones latch on. I also suggest that the rule of bigger bait means bigger fish also applies using cut bait has limited appeal and little to none to a larger fish. If you are after anything over 5 lbs. a 6 inch squid imitation or a minnow bait would be your beat bets. If you are just interested in small bottom dwellers, rubber tails and 3/8 to 1/2 ounce jig heads are the tickets. Don't know if they have them I Spain but you can always bring your own.

Make sure you discuss with the captain what you are paying for. They advertise different prices at the location than what is in the application. I after the fact and trip was complete saw the different prices advertised and he explained to me there are two prices for private trip and shared trips.

Great location and always plenty of areas for fishing, captains know local waters and hotspots that are good. Easy going and enjoyable.
