What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Palacios, Texas for the first time?

We went with an evening trip on the bay rather than a morning one and it paid off. Caught a ton of fish but had to move the boat a couple of times to keep it going. We always catch a lot of fish in October on the coast.

Book a charter and talk to your Captain about local establishments, restaurants and public fishing spots. Our Captain (Captain Reyes with Lucky 7 Guide Services) was very helpful and knowledgeable. We are glad we booked our trip shortly after our arrival in Palacios.

Don't be afraid to bring your own rods and tackle. Try both artificials and live bait. Ask lots of questions, what are the best redfish spots, what are the best lures to use for each type of fish. What is your favorite time to fish, etc.

Palacios Bay is a great place to fish! Not much in the town itself but the bay and surrounding waterways are great fishing.

If catching is your priority check with the captain as to what time of year to come down.

Weather went from high 90s to low 50s in a single day. Mosquitos a plenty but still a great trip.
