Don’t you just love the unique pattern of spots on Victor’s red fish! What do the spots mean? Well, we can see only one side of Victor’s fish; we can only assume this fish has escaped death from the jaws of a dolphin at least from this side view 5 times! According to dear old dad, every time a red fish escapes a close rendezvous with a dolphin (mammal) a spot appears on the fish’s mid section or tail area. The spots produced look like eyes, which mean the dolphin is going for the tail section first! All I can say now is “Bad Judgment Call!” No snacks today! So now their learning has evolved in to some fishing! Both are holding red fish! Better known as dinner for two! As you can see Melody caught a nice slot red fish! Now you know what’s for dinner! From the looks of this picture both student do know how to catch and Captain Jake knows how to find! I love it when a plan comes together! Fran caught fought and released this beautiful shark! Captain Kathy Brown of Miss Judy Charters is assisting! And guess what it was her Birthday! They always say the family that fishes together stays together! Well, here you go! I had the pleasure of taking Mark, Fran, Joe 19, Gavin 18, Jack 14, Fiona 14, and Aibhlinn 16 just plain old bottom fishing in the sound! What is biting? Sharks, croakers, summer trout, whiting, sea robins, rock bass, and ray ..this was a 4 hour sound trip It just a lot of fun to get on the Miss Judy Too, take a ride to the sound, and just fish for what is biting! Offshore Artificial Reefs Time to go!! The bottom fishing is very active at the artificial reefs. Let me break it down: Artificial reefs located in less than 50 feet of water! They are still holding sheepshead, but some of these fish that were wintering offshore are now moving inshore! The bottom fishing for black sea bass is very active, but it is a 30 to 1 keeping ratio. Black sea bass have to be 13 TL (tail length) to keep with a bag limit of 7 per person.

Just wanted everyone to know that they water temps are steadily rising, which means fish are on the move! Why? they have to eat and now with warming temps there is more to feed on. Some shrimp are holding in deep holes while others are finding safety in the grass. The news is we got movement from everything from fish and the things that they eat! Now you know, it is time to go!

For those that love to fish and catch this is the “specialty trip for you!” We have what is called “the old shark hole!” This is a catching event not a swimming event! When bottom fishing you could catch sharks, croaker, flounder, cobia, tarpon, stripped burr-fish, blue fish, lizardfish, stingrays, ladyfish, whiting, oyster toadfish, and many other fish types. Shark tales… There’s a lots of interesting things to learn about these so called “man eating creatures!” For instance: Did you know that when you rub the skin of a shark one way it appears to be smooth, but reverse it and it feels like very course sand paper. Their eyelids cover their eyes from bottom not from the top like us humans. (There are many more interesting facts about the sharks that Captain Judy and Captain Kathy will be glad to share with you!) In the fish-fighting department “sharks are strong fighters offering up lots of action and excitement! Shark meat is also very good to eat. However, we only keep a few! This is a light tackle, mostly release, watching the sharks swim off, kind of a fishing trip! Don’t forget to bring your camera! This trip is rated excellent for “All Catching Ages!” These trips are great for children and adults who want a chance to have a “Close Encounter” with a shark. You can see the ocean, the barrier islands, but aren’t outside the outer beaches-so “no rocking and rolling motion included with this trip!”

The inshore bite continues to get better and better….why? When the water temperatures reach 65 degrees everything is alive! What the heck does that mean? More bait such as shrimp, finger mullet, and peanut menhaden are making way, which means the larger fish are going to put on the old fed bag! Captain Justin Rahn of Miss Judy Charters took these fishers on a catching detail! Josh Stevens New Jersey, Ryan Leung San Diego, and Cade Mayfield Marietta had a great inshore catching day with Captain Justin. On the fish cleaning table we have spotted sea trout, whiting, red fish, and black drum! A grand combination anyway you want to look at it! These fishers are very good looking freshmen that are attending Georgia! Congratulations and good luck to them all! By the way Cade promised to scrub Captain Justin’s boat if the group caught more than 20 fish! Get to scrubbing Cade time is a wasting! This is not a current fishing report picture! However, if you were to book a 6 to 8 to 10 hours offshore trip at this time of the year the fish in these pictures would be your targeted species. Now if the water were to warm up a bit before you booked then you could add king and Spanish mackerel to the list of catching possibilities. So here's this thing I would very much like to report...you don't know unless you go and now you know! LET GO FISHING!
