Captain Matthew was born and raised in Gloucester, MA and has always had a passion for fishing and boating. He was taught how to fish and lobster at a very young age by his father, who is a lifelong commercial fisherman. The captain began running charters for his father and eventually on head boats out of Gloucester, before setting out on his own boat. For Captain Matthew, sharing his experience and seeing other people enjoy a day on the water just as much as he does is what makes his job rewarding.

The captain's preferred style would be live bait fishing for Bluefin Tuna or using bait bottom fishing for Cod, Haddock, Pollock, and more. He also runs live baits for Striped Bass.

Both morning and afternoon deep sea trips paid off, with a bountiful harvest of haddock, and cusk! With plenty of cod in the mix as well. Great weather and fishing, with even better company. The season is off to a great start ?

Thursday and Friday morning, we had the pleasure of fishing with a couple of seasoned anglers, who cane prepared and ready to fish! Our first day of the multi day trip started off slow, but still a great day covering plenty of ground in search on “the big one” Our second day out (Friday) was like flipping a switch. Our first stop of the day produced multiple double hookups, and countless fish. We kept the bite going throughout the day and had another fantastic day at sea!

This Thursday afternoons 3 hour inshore trip was non stop reel pumping action! The stripers were in a full on feeding frenzy when we arrived to our first stop!! Not long after setting out to troll on our second stop we were right on the fish with a double hookup! All smiles aboard the Lyla Rose, and some awesome fish pics for our anglers ?

Mondays 3 hour inshore trip certainly lacked no excitement! We got right to it, fishing just minutes from our dock where the gang was able to catch a nice schoolie striped bass to kick off the trip! From there we headed out into the harbor to one of our favorite spots. Not long after setting out our rigs we hooked up, and landed a nice slot sized Striped Bass at 32”!! Our first mate Tim filleted and packaged this delicious fish once we were dockside, and our clients could not have been happier with the result! An excellent way to spend an afternoon out on the water.

Saturdays 5 hour Striped Badd trip was one for the books! We were able to land a beautiful 42” striped bass along with several others. The bluefish decided to make an appearence and despite some heavy chaffing on the leader, we were able to boat a nice Bluefish as well. A great day on the water with many more ahead!

This afternoon we set out on our half day deep sea trip, in search of haddock. On our way out to the fishing grounds we spotted an Ocean Sunfish (Mola Mola) floating along the surface in the tide!! We stopped for a quick picture and we were back on our way. Once we had arrived we encountered several different species including cod, haddock, pollock, whiting, redfish, herring and mackerel. It was a great trip with our return client Rich and his son Max. Book your trip today, and beat the heat!
