Reel Tight Fishing Charters was re-established in December of 2016. The owner, Matt Fueyo, ran charters for over 20 years inshore and offshore in the Sarasota and surrounding waters. During the 2009 BP oil spill, he left the industry and joined the Army. After completing a tour overseas, he returned to Sarasota to pursue his lifelong passion. Matt has years of running private yachts for high-profile owners which is reflected in his level of professionalism and cleanliness in his charter boat company. Even though Blue Marlin is his favorite fish to catch, Snook and Tarpon still give him the adrenaline-pumping action that made him fall in love with sport fishing. Spring has definitely sprung in Sarasota Bay as we keep our captains busy with the rush of visitors for spring break season! Snook, redfish, and trout are hungry and eating a variety of bait including shrimp and pilchards. The breeding season for these species has made the larger females make their presence known. Our guests have had a BLAST hooking into some huge reds and snook, and the bite has been consistent and full of surprises. The big girls have come out to play, and we are on the fish and ready to show you a good time!

Happy Thanksgiving! We are busy this week catching a ton of average size (20”-26”) snook and some fun size reds! The redfish are ranging in all sizes and colors. Some are as copper as a new penny and some are a very light orange with floresent blue tails. The shrimp and crustaceans are hatching and we are seeing a ton of them in our cast nets when we net bait in the morning. Trout and jacks are roaming the flats too! We are catching big jacks 5-10 pounds on light tackle making for some rod bending fun. The kids and rookie anglers love these drag screamers. Trout are finding their way into the cooler and are making for a tasty dinner. Our captains will clean your catch at the end of the trip. Come enjoy a day on the water with us! The inshore fishing has been awesome the last few weeks. Warm January days have the fish fired up and large schools of Cobia, Redfish, Snook and Jacks are roaming the inshore reefs and we have been catching a ton of big fish! Not everyday you get a double header of Redfish and Cobia followed up by a big 36" snook! Bring a jacket and be ready for the trip of a lifetime!

Catching baby tarpon on light tackle is one of the most heart pumping types of fishing you can do! These back water tackle busters are back in full affect and we have found some nice schools of them gorging on glass minnows. We have been able to find some decent bait lately too so that has been helpful with our success. Getting them to eat isn't the problem getting them up for a photo is the real challenge. These slime missiles are hard to hold and full of energy. A quick photo op and back they go! Join us for an amazing day on the water.
