But with the change of seasons, the coming of Fall weather and cooling water temperature, has got me excited for an exciting Fall and early winter bite. In a few weeks the Mahi, Tuna and Wahoo will be making their way back south to escape the cold waters of the North Atlantic. Trolling for these pelagics will get the excitement going listening to one of these fish trying to spool the reel. Then top the day off bottom fishing the ledge for Grouper, Mutton and Mangrove Snapper and Triggers. Bottom fishing nearer to shore , Vermillion Snapper, Amberjack, Triggers and Grouper makes a great way to fill the box. For those anglers who do not want to venture so far off shore and have a shorter day, the Jetties is a great way to have some super Fall action with Bull Reds, Black Drum and Sharks. Recently, the Grouper bite has been great with Black and Gag Grouper within 25 miles offshore. Mix in some Vermillion Snapper, Triggers and Amberjack to fill the box and then some big Barracuda's for some fast action. June, July and August produced a good season, slow trolling for King Mackerel and there was no shortage of Cobia and some Sails. Yesterday on our way in, we had one of the few Tarpon still hanging around, rocket next to the boat. The cooling water temps will soon have these Tarpon looking for a warmer climate. After cast netting pogies on the beach we headed toward the north side of the north jettie. Stopping a quarter mile short of the red bouy we started slow trolling. Bait was busting everywhere and i knew there had to be a smoker along the rocks. The best tide for trolling the jetties is the incoming but we were a few minutes late and it had already started it outgoing tide. But just maybe, just maybe there would be a big one hanging around the bait pods. After ten minutes of slow trolling she struck and smoked the reel for at least 100 yards. After setting the drag Ronnie, the mate handed Shanes daughter the rod and she worked it perfectly. After a good 25 minutes and tediously working the fish the first mate stuck it with the gaff. This King would have paid in any tournament.

Started the morning of Sunday May 21 trolling slow bite but managed two Mahi and some cuda's Bottom fished the drop off had a red hot bite with AJ's, Vermillion, Big Triggers, Graysby, Rock Hind Grouper. Made a quick stop on the way in and pulled up a Nice Black Grouper.

Great 10 hour day bottom fishing. Grouper, Mangrove Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, Amber Jack and Triggers.
