Рыбалка у береговой линии – Пунта-Кана
The Dominican Republic is well-known for its superb deep sea action, but did you know that inshore fishing in Punta Cana has a respectable reputation as well? For inshore anglers craving a new exotic destination, Punta Cana (“Tip of the White Cane”) offers solid year-round fishing opportunities against some breathtaking scenery.
What to Expect
Located in the east of the country, Punta Cana has easy access to bountiful flats, as well as excellent surf and reef fishing. Because you can find reefs in shallow waters very close to the shore, inshore fishing here means one thing – a bigger diversity of catch.
The most productive time of the year to go inshore fishing is anytime from November to June. Snook, Permit, and Tarpon (the “Silver King”) are the primary suspects here, and they come in all shapes and sizes.
Many experienced fly fishermen target the King here, and there’s no bigger thrill than chasing and outsmarting this gorgeous fish on fly tackle. They come pretty close to the trophy sizes found in Florida, and fight just as fiercely. One of the better spots to go after Tarpon is Laguna de Limon.
You can also hook some large Snook, especially from April–June, and a lot of anglers come to Punta Cana for the sole purpose of hooking a Permit on a fly. These silvery beauties are plentiful in the skinny waters between reefs and beaches.
When it comes to reef fishing, you can expect Barracuda, Grouper, Yellowtail and Mangrove Snapper, Jack Crevalle, Needlefish, and even Rainbow Runner. If you hit the reefs, there’s a bigger chance of hooking a mixed bag. If you’d like to focus on a particular species, there are charter captains that can make it happen.
Which Trip to Book
One of the best things about booking a trip out of Capa Cana Marina is that you’re going to get an all-inclusive memorable experience.
Many charters combine snorkeling and fishing on inshore trips, so when you’ve caught your fill of fish, you can jump into the crystal-clear turquoise waters and admire the marine life. You’re welcome to come aboard with your whole family, and the crew will make sure all of you have the best time.
If you’d like to take a more fishing-oriented approach, there are guides who run trips that’ll have you spending 6–8 hours face to gills with inshore favorites. On these expeditions, you can test your hand at both traditional and fly fishing – everything will be tailored to your preferences.
The charter usually provides all the licenses, fishing gear, and snorkeling equipment, as well as drinks and snacks. As you can see, all you have to do is show up, bring your best fishing game, and enjoy the full potential of inshore fishing in Punta Cana!
