Assess whether a shorter trip than six hours is appropriate: we booked six hours, however only fished three because we had reached our limit, and the Guide was hesitant to continue catching and releasing, even though the hooks were barbless. as a guide myself, I totally understand this stance. Overall great trip.

The salmon moved around and so did we. The captain put us on top of bait balls. We caught our limit of coho within 1.5 hours. We did 1 more hour of C n R. We went on to fishing for flounder. The action was continuous.

If you are planing to drift the river on your own its advisable to fish with a guide until you learn the river as it does have some rough spots. There is some bank access and the local folks are friendly and fun to fish around.

My son and I went out with Captain Tao and I could not be more pleased. He was kind and patient with my 13yr old and the other 11 year old on the boat. He was always engaged and anticipating when we needed help. He was personable and made you feel like a long lost friend. He’s also very skilled at his craft and had us on the fish all day. If you’re looking for a friendly, all smiles, captain who’s going to hold your hand while you fish, this isn’t the trip for you. If you want to catch fish, if you listen to what the captain says and not ask stupid questions then this maybe the trip for you. The captain is short tempered and gruff just like most of the good captains I’ve fished with, so it’s your call. Is this a social trip or do you want to catch fish?

Captain Matt was attentive and encouraging throughout our fishing trip. Even when we were losing fish while attempting to land them, Matt was patient and instructive. Once we learned the “tricks of the trade,” we all limited out.

Had a great day on the Chehalis river with Captain Jim. We do not fish much but he was quick to educate is on casting and knew where the fish were. Highly recommended. Great exercise!

My son and I went out with Captain Tao and I could not be more pleased. He was kind and patient with my 13yr old and the other 11 year old on the boat. He was always engaged and anticipating when we needed help. He was personable and made you feel like a long lost friend. He’s also very skilled at his craft and had us on the fish all day. This was a 5-star experience all around. Highly recommend!

Captain Matt knew where to go! The fish started biting as soon as our poles were in the water. Coho’s put up a great fight and a few got away but we limited out in two hours of fun!

If you’re looking for a friendly, all smiles, captain who’s going to hold your hand while you fish, this isn’t the trip for you. If you want to catch fish, if you listen to what the captain says and not ask stupid questions then this maybe the trip for you. The captain is short tempered and gruff just like most of the good captains I’ve fished with, so it’s your call. Is this a social trip or do you want to catch fish?

Captain Matt was attentive and encouraging throughout our fishing trip. Even when we were losing fish while attempting to land them, Matt was patient and instructive. Once we learned the “tricks of the trade,” we all limited out.
It was a rough day on the water but the Captain was cautious and made sure we were safe at all time. We are thrilled to have a capable fishing guide on the Kitsap Peninsula. We are looking forward to our next trip. Thank you, David Entzminger, Gig Harbor, WA

Captain Andrews was very knowledgable, professional, funny and made sure we were all catching fish. I highly recommend this trip to everyone. Once we got back, captain made sure to photograph and fillet everyone’s catch.
