There’s a fish with your name on it in Oakwood and Striper Tales will help you catch it! Captain Tom will be your guide, so you’ll benefit from 17 years of local experience and 10 years on the Chesapeake Bay.
Captain Tom is a United States Coast Guard Captain and has a US Army Corps of Engineers Fishing Permit. He has also published a book about fishing on Lake Lanier, "Fishing for Lake Lanier Striped Bass".
Depending on the season, you might hook into Spotted Bass, White Bass, Catfish, Garfish, Flathead, Yellow Perch, Walleye, and who knows what else! You can expect to do some spinning, trolling, jigging, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Kids are welcome, so the whole family can come and unplug for the day! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise, you should bring your own. And, you can’t go wrong with snacks so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly!
Your day begins aboard a 24’ Center console that holds up to 5 passengers. It has downriggers and all the essentials. What’s more, this vessel is wheelchair accessible. Rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, along with lures. Live bait is available, but you should ask the captain whether you’ll be catching it yourself.
You might need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off-limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect. Don’t forget to bring sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen (non-spray), and bottled water. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
