You’re likely to go after Gag Grouper, Dusky Grouper, Pompano, Mangrove Snapper, Red Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, Tarpon, Bluefin Tuna, Blackfin Tuna, Yellowtail Amberjack, Wahoo, and more with any luck. On the day of your trip, you’re likely to bottom fish. For the more adventurous among you, there’s spearfishing.

Capt. Burke operates a 45’ Hatteras Offshore sport fishing vessel with room for 12 passengers. However, only 6 fishermen at a time, and only 1 fighting chair. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. You’ll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is included, but you should ask the captain whether you’ll be catching it yourself.

There will be a First Mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.

Before coming aboard, it may be necessary to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect. It’s never a bad idea to bring bottled water, sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks included on board.
