Bottom fishing allows you to target various Groupers, Red and Vermillion Snappers, some of the tastiest fish to frequent these waters. If you’re a fan of trolling for high-speed predators these waters provide you with plenty of Wahoo, Kingfish, Sailfish, Blue and White Marlin, and Spanish Mackerel to tighten your lines. When to go
Bluewater action heats up with the weather and is dependant on the migration of the pelagic predators. As the summer months warm up the waters the offshore fish will start moving in closer to the coast. However, the warm summer weather has its drawbacks, when the sun is too hot they’ll retreat into the cooler depths – electric reels for bottom fishing are a must. The best months to go for some reel-screaming bluewater action are from May to September. That period covers Mackerel migrations, the Sailfish and Marlin moving in closer from the Gulf Stream, as well as increased activity of Snappers and Groupers.
South Carolina has a lot to offer to the saltwater angler, from bottom fishing gorgeous Snappers and Groupers to the adrenaline rush of chasing a monster Sailfish across the deep blue sea. Its charter captains are experienced with customers with the know-how to make anyone’s fishing trip extremely enjoyable. All in all, fishing in South Carolina is a fantastic package – head on down there and see for yourself!
