"Cabo" needs no introduction to anyone who's ever thought of a vacation in Mexico. But did you know that it lies at the meeting point of two incredible big game fisheries? Located at the tip of Baja California where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, it's a highway for world-class game fish. When we said world-class fish, we really meant it. Start off by going for some Mahi Mahi and Wahoo – which grow to world-record sizes, by the way. Then, you can be a little more adventurous and try to land delicious oversized Tuna. If that's not enough, there's an abundance of Sailfish and Blue, White, and Striped Marlin to make all your angling dreams come true.

 

You'll mainly try trolling to land your desired species, however, fly fishing is becoming increasingly popular among those looking for a challenge. Landing a Marlin or Sailfish on the fly requires plenty of skill, not to mention strength. If you head further out, you could also try deep dropping for some more elusive species. 

 

The fish can come very close to shore during the season, so you can find deep sea fishing charters in Cabo San Lucas lasting as short as four hours. However, to get to the real offshore honey holes, you'll want a full day on the water. All these trips are tailored towards experienced anglers, so make sure you know how to handle a rod and reel before coming. 

Before casting your line, you'll need a fishing license. Some captains provide this but not all, so check before you show up at the dock. You should also be aware that you can keep up to 10 fish, with a maximum of five of each species. However, you can keep only one Billfish – but it also counts as five of your daily 10.
