Myself and 2 others from the same church, booked this trip months ago. Between then and the trip, I had to inundate Capt. Mike with changes. How many isn’t important. But the fact that he took all those changes in stride, is. A great sign.
We left the dock precisely 8:30 and went to the flats. It was breezy that day. Best to stay in shore. Capt. Mike dropped anchor, hooked the 3 of us up, pointed where we should cast and a half hour later, we had our limit of trout. You read that right. Half hour, legal limit attained. It was incredible, that’s the reason for my headline.
I don’t know how many we caught and tossed back, but it was a lot.
A couple of us hooked into Jack Creveille’s , not sure of the spelling, but what fighter. Not good eating, but darn good fight.
Then, the only downer of the day. I hooked into a beautiful Red fish. It looked delicious. Capt. Mike measured it and it was that much, the space between was and that, short. If I went out again the next day and caught him again, he’d be legal. It was that close. Oh well.
Terrific boat, terrific captain and cooperating fish, make for a great trip. 2 thumbs up. WAY UP!
