This excursion was a vacation-maker. We were met bright and early and swept 40km out of the bay to start fishing. With the early start, we saw the sunrise over the mountains behind PV which was beautiful. We saw humpback whales almost immediately and continued to see them throughout the day. We were fishing at the end of MahiMahi season, so didn’t catch any of them, however we did catch seven fish total with Bonita’s, Tuna and a Jack Cravalle at the end of that day. Omar and Nicholas (Niko) were quiet but there when we had questions and were so fast on the reels and resetting the bait, it was amazing to watch.
Throughout the day we saw two dolphins, three or four (one is still disputed between my partner and I as being a floating coconut) sea turtles, a snake and jumping manta rays. It was a great day.
Few suggestions: though there is shade, it’s a narrow space where the Captain sits so it is best to wear long sleeves and pants if you are affected by the sun. Loads of sunscreen and a wide brim hat will make this an easy day. There is a washroom on board in a little cupboard at the front, though men are encouraged to use a bucket. We brought beer and water as well as sandwiches and were pleased to have something to nibble on.
At the end of the trip Niko gave us the fillets of three of the fish and we were taken to a near by restaurant where the chef cooked a meal for us with out catch! We had to ask them for this (after reading some reviews) and they were happy to accommodate!
The remaining fish we caught Niko & Omar assured us they would donated to people who were in need of some food.
Worth the trip and the money!
