Excellent trip! I was thoroughly impressed start to finish with whole process. During reservation and prep, Captain Ollie was very responsive, friendly, and provided all answers to my questions. It is good to ask questions to help prepare (cost of live bait, licensing, filet fees) which is all very affordable (this trip costs about 1/2 what you’d pay in Caribbean or Florida/Northeast/U.S., it’s an awesome deal). Captain Ollie also kept communication with our shuttle bus driver so everything was timed perfectly. I recommend you show up at the dock when they tell you because it will save you time standing in line to get the licenses if you don’t already have them (everybody has to go through the same process regardless of charter). When you are done, a fish filet person will come to take you to where they prep the fish (no concerns).
On the boat, Captain Manuel and First Mate Miguel worked hard to put us on fish. Had all lines out, multiple live and artificial methods. Trolling was slow but when we stopped to drop line in 200 feet of water we filled the cooler with a ton of Tuna (seared skip jack in honey ginger soy tonight my friends 😁). The boat is well maintained and clean. Miguel also gave pointers and advice to help my 11 year old son land his first tuna, a memory I will never forget.
This was like several excursions in one as we also got great views of arches, Sea lions pandering for bait, and competing breaching whales within 100 feet of the boat show up unexpectedly. Forget Sea World when you have Ursula in Cabo. I got my fish, my memories, and couldn’t beat the value. Will be using them again in April and just sincerely thank you Manuel, Miguel, and Ollie.
One last note as I read a few reviews from charter amateurs that really bothered me (charter fishing trips often; a bit of an angler addict). It is common etiquette to break bread and have fellowship with your boat crew. Offer them food and drinks, if you catch more fish then you’re going to eat, then give them a few. That is just common practice above tipping and if you treat the crew with respect and kindness, they will do the same multiplied by 10. By the end of the trip, Manuel and Miguel were as much a part of our group and not just “the help”. That’s part of fishing along with plenty of beer.
In short, best time, best crew, and we caught plenty of fish. They are real deal and I strongly recommend!
