Unfortunately, this trip was not our style. I’m used to trips where the captains are very engaging and they’re to provide knowledge and expertise. We signed up for 4 hour jetty trip and arrived at the jetties only for the captains equipment to not work. He had checked before we left so no big deal, but then we moved deeper water to do shark fishing which was the captain putting out two lines then us sitting for two hours watching bobbers while he made calls about his broken equipment.  2.5 hours into the trip, I made the comment to my husband, I hadn’t even touched a pole so he told the captain, it was time to change spots. That was met with a comment about he’s only been doing this for 28 years and knows what he’s doing. Moving back to the jetty’s, we finally got to hold a pole. After the captain baited and cast my first line, I told him, I’m hands on and here to learn so I want to be taught and do it myself. We caught a couple fish, and each time I got something on my line I was barked orders and had to remind the captain, I’m new to salt water fishing and I didn’t know what he meant. For us, having a hands on experience (meaning hands on the pole) is better than waiting and watching without being able to touch anything for hours. If we had chosen shark fishing, that would have been one thing, but we hadn’t paid for that. Maybe just a difference of style, but wouldn’t do this trip again or recommend it.
