We had an early morning trip with Joe and Dyson. We joked all trip long and caught a good collection of fish, we lost almost as much as we caught, but the weather was foggy and unpredictable fish. So glad we caught what we did, but the experience and entertainment was a blast! First time on superior for most of us and we all enjoyed it. The lower deck was cozy and we had basic set of rules to follow, which we all broke 😅, all in fun. Huge thanks to the crew for everything! The mini ship was a blast! Lol Dyson is a wonderful kid to have on the trip, he did a great job! If we have another vacation up in duluth, we would love to come back out again. Thank you!

Great times with great people is what it’s all about. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to get to know all of you. Hopefully see you again soon.
A chilly windy Spring Sunday was both a Fathers Day trip and a congratulatory voyage for daughter Kate’s SUCCESSFUL completion of Gandma’s Marathon. 1st Mate Dyson provided a “safety rules” presentation and then it was game on. I knew that the transitional seasons could be tricky times for finding fish patterns but Captain Joe put his vast experience to the test early and often. On our first troll we hooked up on a feisty post spawn walleye that “choked the spoon”. This bonus fish found its way into the box. The next three hookups ended with the fish spitting the hook. Continuous communications with the Happy Hooker fleet had Captain Joe and 1st Mate Dyson scrambling with lure color and trolling depth changes. Species changed to Coho and we hooked up on some beautiful “silver bullets” netted skillfully by Dyson. As our charter proceeded my wife implored Dyson to whip up some of his mojo. He complied and we put some additional Coho into the box.
A skilled Captain Joe was able to set up his trolling patterns to minimize the effects the wind and the waves on the “Hooker Too” and our comfort. Blankets were provided for the comfort of the ladies. The charter continued and, like a light switch, the species changed from Coho to Lake Trout. From “silver bullets” to speckled fluorescent green footballs. The bite slowed and Captain Joe announced that he was ready to pull the equipment and head in to the dock. We again turned to Dyson for his mojo and he delivered with one last Laker for the box. Dyson may not be the most talkative first mate but he was definitely both helpful and efficient with NO MISSES on netting fish. Back at the dock Captain Joe and Dyson made quick work of cleaning and bagging the fish while the Captain’s fuzzy dachshund, Oscar, watched with us.
This charter was a great use of our time and money thanks to the experienced folks at Happy Hooker Charters. Next time we have vacation time in the Duluth area we will definitely looking to reserve time with Captain Joe (or maybe a new Captain Dyson) at Happy Hooker Charters.
Thanks guys!! Kate, Pam & Kevin

Thank you so much for all of your kind words. We are very happy that all of you enjoyed your time with us. We also enjoyed your company and the many stories shared between us. We greatly appreciate the very amazing review and hopeful that we get to share a boat and some stories with you again in the near future. Thank you again for choosing Happy Hooker Charters. 😊
We had a great time, even those of us that don’t like fishing. Unfortunately we are amatuers and had I known the fish don’t tend to bite in the afternoon, I may have only booked a half day for the morning. We did 8 hours and got 15 fish. The quiet afternoon did allow us to sit on the boat and just relax, chat, and enjoy the scenery. The captain and first mate were great. It’s an experience we plan to repeat and will be talking about for a long time.
We are so thankful that you enjoyed your day on the water with us. We hope to see you again.
We had so much fun with Captain Joe and Adam!! They took us to the fish, and kept us laughing in between catches Hook, Line and Sinker!! They made sure we knew what to do, and were good teachers, showing us how to reel the rods. Captain Joe knows his stuff and it is evident he is very experienced. We were excited to hook some big ones and got to hear ‘Fish on!’ 10 times! Thank you Joe and Adam for a great time!!
We had a great time with all of you! Many laughs exchanged and new things learned. We really appreciate your company and hope to see you again sometime soon. Thank you so much for the kind words and 5 star recommendation. We greatly appreciate it.
