Paid for near shore trip. Was told it we would be about 3 miles out. We never went out stayed inshore. Caught fish just not the trip we thought we paid for.
If you recall I passed you all when I was returning to port about 8 AM on the morning of July 15th. Captain McCartney had you all fishing the rock Jetty at the pass. I had been Tarpon fishing in another boat that morning and we came in due to the thunderstorms that were off to your immediate west. The storms were full of lightning that morning and tracked that from the northwest to the southeast. The seas in the gulf picked up to 3-4. Captain McCartney kept you all out of harms way with the storms that day. There were many of us who were out in the gulf in the path of those storms that morning who came back in for shelter. They posted a marine advisories for those in the path of the storms as the tracked from Foley through Gulf Shores and the western end of Orange Beach. This advisory alert is why we came back to port.
Technically, a nearshore trip is from the shoreline out to 3 miles. You were in the gulf as he had you all catching Blue Fish off the end of the jetty rocks. By fishing were you were he kept you out of harms way with the storms and rough seas that were kicked up that morning by the storms to the west. Our most important concern is your safety. That was Captain McCartney’s call as to where to fish and how best to keep you safe. I understand you would like to have gone out further but I support his decision to stay there to fish based on the circumstances of that morning. If the storms would have been 5 miles closer to were you all were fishing your entire trip would have been cancelled.
I hope you will consider fishing with us again in the future. We we do our best to exceed your expectations in the future.
Captain Mitchell Davis
