Our overall boat ride was great. We had the early morning ride in hopes for a morning catch. The captain and deck hand were very informative and helpful.
We spent the day with Captain Zack and first mate Cody and had the most amazing day on the ‘Hooked Up’. It started off with a couple of bites early on that slipped the hook. First was the elusive spearfish and the second was an Ahi. Things were quiet for a while after that, but the weather was beautiful and the water was calm, so no one was complaining. Our real adrenaline rush came a bit later when he hooked his blue. Nothing like the sound of line running out of your reel to get your heart pumping. After about a 45 minute fight, he was able to land an approximately 12-ft long, 400 lb blue marlin. During the fight I could not have been more impressed with Captain Zack or first mate Cody. They calmly and professionally guided him through the catch with Cody working beside my son and Zack expertly piloting the boat. This fishing trip was the highlight of our vacation. The memories made will last a lifetime. I highly recommend taking a trip with this outfit.

Well….you either catch fish or you don’t. The day we went, not a single bite. Not for lack of trying, just not in the cards….and that was ok. To be out on a boat, in the beautiful Pacific, off the coast of the Big Island was absolutely enough. It was 4 hours of family time, looking at the island from the water, watching the endless horizon of water, seeing birds, hoping to catch a fish but also being ok if it didn’t happen. The captain and his first mate told funny stories, showed us cool videos of things that happened on other days, talked about growing up on island, it was great. I think it was just about being out there. I can’t speak of how awesome it would have been to catch something, that would have just been frosting on an already great cake. So choose the attitude you bring with you when you go out for a charter. It’s not a guarantee of a big catch, but choose your attitude and you’re definitely guaranteed a good time.
