What a great half day of fishing! Esley picked us up from the dock at our hotel and took us out for a half day of reef fishing. We didn’t have high expectations due to previous guided fishing trips, but 5 minutes in and we had our first fish on! We caught 5 different species of fish (some species multiple times) and took a sampling of each to Sunset Pelican where they grilled it up for us for a delicious feast! We definitely recommend this trip and Esley!
Captain was nice, but never really took the time to explain the what to expect, how the day could go, what fish we are looking for, how the equipment works, etc. We also barely did anything ourselves he kind of just fishes and were just watching, definitely expected more for $300USD. We caught a few little snappers but that wasn’t my issue, you can’t always expect to catch a ton of fish.
We had a great time. Did some trolling then bottom fishing in the afternoon. My 9 year old daughter had a great time. He has good gear and is very knowledgeable about where the fish are. We will be back with him next time. Justen Miller
Fishing was tough. Caught 2 small barracuda while trolling for most of our fishing time. Tried several different lures and speeds. Capt took us to catch a few snapper on the way into the dock. Did have some excitement when we had a couple of sharks hold on while reeling in snapper. Capt esley did try really hard to find us some fish while trolling. The snapper spot produced as soon as we dropped lines in the water. He also skillfully cleaned our catch when we got to the dock. We brought a small vaccum sealer to package our catch for transport. Unfortunately, we dealt with some rain showers during the morning that were beyond his control but did make for an uncomfortable trip for part of the day. Decisions were made at times to try to avoid the rain without fishing at the same time, so some of the day was wasted moving around. The boat handled the water no problem and neither of us felt sick in anyway. Only downside to the boat was that the seat cushions have seen better days. Also be prepared if bringing ladies on the boat, there is no privacy while sitting on the edge of the boat to relieve yourself. Captain provided plenty of drinks including water, soda and even a couple of beers. However, no snacks were included even though they are specifically listed in the description and lunch was a ham sandwich that didn’t appear to be kept cold for the whole morning. We got to see some dolphins and flying fish while on the boat so that added some excitement.
Overall, it was fun being out on the water. Sometimes fish just dont want to cooperate but captain did put in a good effort to help us catch some.

We had a great morning, we stopped to net some sardines for live bait, then headed out to the edge of the reef to troll. We caught 5 barracudas and a Spanish mackerel. We switched to bottom rigs and lighter gear and tried for red snapper, we caught several dale snapper, but, no reds. We are taking the fish to a local restaurant for dinner. Thanks for the great day !
