Cobia on a 4 hour trip!!

We had an 18-hour Pulley Ridge trip today and the fishing was unbelievably good! The gulf was so calm that it looked like a mirror all day. Bright vivid blue water! We ran 170 miles offshore and we got there fast. Our first drop was in 700 feet of water with electric reels and they instantly had fish on them. We had yellow eye snapper and snowy grouper coming into the boat right away. We loaded up on delicious fish and than made a quick half mile run to another spot. We dropped the baits and immediately had action again. This time the fish were much larger and the first fish in the boat was a Kitty Mitchell grouper, followed by a 60lb Warsaw grouper! We saw some big marks down deep so we rigged a larger bait and sent it down. The rod got crushed right away and drag started peeling off the electric reel. 10 minutes and a hard fight later, up pops a 200lb warsaw grouper!! A true bucket-list monster. The kind of fish people spend an entire lifetime searching for. We spent the rest of the day catching as many grouper and snapper as we wanted. We even found a floating log and caught triple tail off of it for some bonus good-eats. These guests experienced a world-class day of fishing. We even got back with the sun still up, thanks to having a fast boat. Book this trip for the best fishing Florida has to offer!!

Had one of those trips today that just reminds you why we do this. Rolled out for a 6-hour with a good group, flat calm, clean water and you could just tell it was setting up right. Ran out to about 100 feet, idled over a few spots, and the screen was already lit up before we even got tight. First drop… thump. Second rod down… thump. Then it just didn’t stop. We got into a pile of grouper that were ready to fight. Not the kind you baby either, these fish were digging straight back to the rocks, trying to break us off every chance they got. Had to stay on them, keep pressure, and earn every single one that came in the boat. Couple real nice fish in the mix too. Thick, mean, exactly what you want to see. The boys did a great job, and once they got the feel for it, it was game on. There were stretches where I’m pretty sure we didn’t have a bait down for more than a minute without getting bit. That’s about as good as it gets for a half day. Ended the trip with a solid box of fish and a lot of tired arms. Always a good sign. Days like this don’t need a lot of hype, just good conditions, the right spots, and people willing to put in a little work. If you’ve been thinking about getting out there, now’s the time. We had an amazing time today on a quick afternoon 4 hour. It was slicked out and the fishing was consistent from start to finish! We put a moxed bag of grouper and snapper in the boat for dinner. Thank you to our great customers!!
