Todays trip was for Winners of a national Ducks Unlimited Auction held earlier this year. Junior and Greg made long journeys from New Mexico and Missouri respectively. Conditions were extremely tough with temps in the mid 30’s and a biting Northeast wind. But these guys are TOUGH! With a very stingy bite adding to the “fun”, we were up against it. They bared down and managed some beautiful perch and after we switched tactics beautiful fat smallmouth up to 5 lbs. To top off the day i made a couple new friends and Ducks Unlimited received some decent funds. Fishing is still excellent on Erie. Especially with tamer weather.

Ashley used the Instant Booking feature and booked Saturday afternoon for a Monday morning trip. She and Chicken were on a mini vacation out of Southern Ohio and decided to try for some smallmouth on Erie. The two of them had an outstanding 1/2 day trip boating 13 keepers and losing several more quality fish. Ashley saved her best for last and boated 3 of the biggest fish of the day in the last 1/2 hour! One of the better tours this season! And the nicest people to boot!

Any couple who celebrates 15 years of marriage by going fishing is OK in my book. Ran a dual bass / night walleye trip. Hooked some giant smallmouth but as predicted they were VERY hard charging and difficult to boat. Still managed some quality fish! Very nice people too boot!

What was billed as “a Father’s Day gift to Dad” turned into a family competition! This family was just what the Ol Cap needed. While targeting smallmouth primarily, they happened into a single rock bass, several of the dreaded gobies and a multitude of hard fighting sheephead ! So hard fighting they actually wrapped the rod around the gunnel of the boat a couple times! Did I mention smallmouth, oh yeah they boated around 10 and lost a few at the boat! Very nice young ladies Natalie, sister Emily and dad Roger! Final count- Roger 22, Emily 19 and Natalie 11 - disclaimer Natalie had the biggest overall, most smallmouth and biggest smallmouth! Was a great day (1/2 day) with 52 fish boated! The jabs and banter between these three was the best part!!!

June 30. The bass catch was good.. Nick &Logan

Dante Johnson had a plan. Let’s get my Uncle Daryl on some quality fish. We came up with a plan and were dedicated to sticking to it. Left the dock at Hanover at 8 am. 1st part of plan- set up and fish for perch- with an east wind the perch were fickle, a tough bite. But, these guys figured it out quickly and before you knew it there were a few dozen jumbo perch in the livewell. Plan successful. 2nd part of plan- fish for larger fish that pack a good fight. Set up on a bar and on first drift with a tube, they hammered 3 good sized sheephead. Battles were fierce. After several more drifts they boated another 6 or 7 monsters including one that was one ounce shy of 12 lbs!!!! Plan successful!!! However, the best part of the day was through all the ribbing and laughter we became good friends! Truly the best part of what I do!
