I like going out fishing, weather plays a big roll, it is always good to check and learn with guides, they have been out and know what’s to be expected.
Don’t get disappointed, fishing is very unpredictable even with a guide.
Spring and fall is the best but there’s always fish out there.

If you’re looking to catch fish, the entrance fee to Calaveras is definitely worth the cost, as is hiring a local guide. Shore anglers do pretty darn well there as well. If you’re looking for a more natural, scenic setting, I’d highly recommend going to the Guadalupe River or Canyon Lake.

April a little early in the season for reds, some days good, some slower. Fishing improves in May and red hot in June and July. Good fishing for reds until December but they move around. Incredible lake! We live in NW SA and were home in a half an hour. Incredible!

Jose Martínez
Getting out is the key, if you find a local guide help you understand what fish is doing for the season.
There’s different types of bait for the different species.
Have fun don’t stress if there’s no catch at first, it is a pleasant process when reeling in your fish. ?

None can guarantee a successful catch, but the waters around San Antonio are always sure to make for a grand time.

Jordan Vanderhoof
Go to the bathroom before you board! And be prepared to hold it for 4-5 hours. Brings water and snacks.

Steve Gonzales
If you want to catch fish use Bones fishing. Raymond knows the area and will make sure your time and money are well spent.

Weather make the difference, not sure how it is when is hot and not wind going on but we had the perfect conditions while being on the water.

David Thornton
For those who do not fish often. This Captain if you listen to his advice in reeling in fish. You will land all of them.

Fernando Rodriguez
Definitely a great choice Jesse knows what his doing you will definitely be catching some fish I recommend him 100%

Troy Hernandez
Definitely recommend I’ve had two strokes two years ago Capt Leal was understanding and helpful with my first journey back to the water. Blessings Captain Leal Sir.

Charlie Neyland
Don't hesitate booking with Captain Jesse. He showed us a good time and we caught our limit on during our trip out. We will be back.

Give it a shot. Be prepared to catch fish. Redfish put up a good fight, are tasty and you can keep anything over 20 inches. A good guide can help a lot. Well worth it!

Christopher Borrego
Reach out to other captains and/or locals to help point you towards the good spots or other recommendations.

Winter is hit and miss. For us, today, it was great. March through summer is supposed to be more consistent.

Daniel Vasquez
Spring to summer is probably the best time to fish, we did good this time even with the cold weather

Michael Parks
All you’ll need is your drinks, snacks and fishing licenses. The captain has everything else covered.

It was just bad timing for reds. They weren't in schools. They were scattered in many different areas.

Albert & Noemy Garcia
Kingsville, TX
Be prepared to have a blast! Due to the heat this summer, we were happy to book the trip for the first half of the day.

If you don't have your own fishing boat and gear, it was well worth the time to get a guide service with Bones Fishing Guide Service.

Lake Braunig is a great place for spring fishing, particularly if you're interested in fishing for red drum.

Afternoon trip might be a little warmer. Redfish are stocked in the power plant lakes and reach keeper size and smaller ones are just as fun to catch.

Gary Belnap
San Antonio, TX
Use one of the Charters and fish/catch your dinner on our power station cooling lakes. The cost is about the same as a trip to the coast to fish but here you can catch and for kids that is great.

Marcey H
Arrive early. It took us a while to get through the gate at the entrance to the park/lake.

Diane Martinez
Fishing was great. We caught our first fish within minutes and our limit within two hours!

Daniel Toole
Everything you need is provided. Just bring drinks, snacks and be ready to catch fish!!

Servando Ibarra
I would greatly recommend that anglers experience the fishing around San Antonio, Texas

Charlie Young
It’s slow fishing until it’s not! You need to wait until the fish are ready.

Bring lots of sunscreen and lots to drink. Be ready for the fish to turn on at a moments notice!!

Wear appropriate clothing. Get some rest before going out. Listen to your captain.
