What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Ludington, Michigan for the first time?

Take enough time to enjoy the beautiful town after your charter. Ludington is a really family oriented town. And the fishing is great. It might take a few minutes to find the fish. But once you do it’s game on.

The fishing tournament was the same weekend we booked our charter. While I don’t feel this truly had any negative effects on our fishing, it might be something to consider and speak to your captain about prior to booking.

Pack with layers and rubber soles shoes since the deck can be wet and you start before the sun rises so temp’s and weather can change over the course of your trip. Captain and crew will put you on fish, which the bigger the fish and the farther out can give you a workout but just keep a steady pace reeling in. Listen to the crew as they’ll guide you through getting fish in the boat. Otherwise, there’s really only one hard fast rule of thumb, have fun!

If you have no experience, don't whine and cry! Try listening! These Captians try everything possible to try to catch fish and make it an experience of a lifetime for you and your group! Remember, it's called fishing not catching!

The waters can be rough and choppy in August and September. If you even think you might get motion sick take appropriate measures

Just reel. Don’t worry about anything else. The captain and crew will take care of the rest of it.

I would definitely do it. Our captain was great with my 11 year old grandson. I would not recommend taking kids much younger than him only due to some down time in the action.

Don’t worry about eating or packing food. To fun catching fish , you forget if your hungry

Fishing is great in august. Be ready to reel in a lot of heavy fish. Be ready for some wave action it can get sporty really quick out there.

Great place to go and nice small town feel, We fished nine miles up the cost North and caught lots of fish, i am planning on going back next year,

Don’t forget your motion sickness medication if it is your first time. Also dress in layers.

I would recommend taking The Fish Fly Charter & come prepared for any type of weather!
