What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Airlie Beach, Queensland for the first time?

Really only giving this four stars because we couldn’t get to deeper water due to wind. I don’t know if this is October specific, but if you can take a look at the weather forecast and book a calmer day to have all options on the table.

Ask the skipper to keep the lines to a few spots on the day. Although fishing is a skill there is also a touch of patience and luck. Let them stay when there are biting. Ask the skipper at the end of the day I should have spoken up and asked him to stay in the one spot for a bit

Make sure you get what you booked, I booked a trip with a maximum 5 anglers and ended up.on a bigger boat with 12

I would definitely recommend going on a charter with Jimmy or an experienced captain to help find the fish and make the day enjoyable.

Yes our youngest was 11 probably wouldn't go younger than that as was quite choppy in some areas so depends on the weather conditions.

Don’t visit Airlie without going fishing - experience or not. It’s an all round unforgettable experience.

If weather is not looking good make sure you take sea sickness tablets 4 hours prior to your trip

Plenty of sunscreen & a good hat , long sleeve shirt and lots of refreshments ,

Yes definitely a great first timing fishing location, with the Whitsundays as the backdrop
