Expect to troll and get some rod bending action! The graph had fish marks the entire time while fishing and we never went more than 15 minutes without getting a bite. Expect to catch a lot of walleye in the 15-22” range during July. The perch bite also starts to pick up in July.

Bring sunscreen and plenty of water to drink and some snacks. Don't forget a cooler and ice to take your catch home. The fishing can be slow in July, so expect some slow periods between bites, but once the fish start biting be ready, you will likely have 2 to 3 fish on at once. Talk to the Captain about your trip before you arrive and BE ON TIME.

If perch fishing with captain Sib bring your own ultra lite fishing pole. would suggest bringing live shiners with an aerator to keep them alive. day old dead shiners that are warm and soft don't stay on the hook very well.

When the wind picked up it made for tough conditions, but persisting and following suggestions still allowed us to catch fish!

Try to hit the faster bite earlier in the season. We went on July 14th. Three of our six anglers were experienced fishermen and we really had to fish hard for seven hours to fill the cooler.

The fishing is challenging, be ready to work as a team. The weather was challenging and water conditions were challenging while we fished. You have to put in some work to have a great catch.

I was very happy with Reel Deal Charters out of Oak Harbor. If you are looking to plan a fishing trip for walleye, look up Robert Sprenger with Reel Deal Charters. He is a class act!

We fished out of Catawba Island, not Oak Harbor. The Captain recently moved his boat out of Oak Harbor.

Don’t go during mayfly season. It’s a struggle to catch fish if they are already full
