Note: I'll fish any any condition (hot, cold, rainy, etc). Fishing in August in Marco Island is HOT, so it's not for everybody. 5 stars for the beautiful location, abundance of fish species, and ease of access to shoreline fishing, charters, and boats. August is also the rainiest month of the year in Marco, so take the heat and rain in consideration if planning fishing here for the first time.
You'll find an array fish species around Marco Island, so there's always something to catch. If you're targeting certain species, make sure you book a charter accordingly (mangroves, surf, offshore, etc). Also, check out out the fishing regulations - many species can't be bagged/kept in August. Good luck and have fun!

3 Things you need to make sure of:
1 - Check the weather often. There will be storms almost everyday
2 - Make sure you have clothing to cover all of your skin. You can change, just make sure you can cover up if needed
3 - Make sure you go with a captain who knows the area for more than a short time. Preferably a someone like Captain Del Rio

Off time of year, plenty of fish to catch but they are a little on the smaller side. Back for the Spring would be a good time to catch the grown ups!

Let the guide know exactly what your interests are. We specifically wanted to go for Bigger fish over quantity of fish. And that's exactly what Capt. Brad did for us.

Take the guess work out and book a guide to show you how to fish the current, tide, wind, etc. They know were the fish are!

Mornings can be cool but sometimes better fishing, most afternoons warmer but wind can add some excitement. So many places to fish it’s amazing
