What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Daytona Beach, Florida for the first time?

We strongly recommend you fish with a guide. If you want the experience and thrill of actually catching fish vs. hunting around and coming up empty, learn from the experts where they run and the best conditions. This was worth every penny.

Book with a captain that knows the waters, has experience, and does guided tours full time! Read the captain bios! If possible go to the actual website for the fishing charter you want book! You never know you might get a discount!!

Go out have a great time! remember it’s Florida. The weather can change on a dime and you can’t expect the fish to bite all the time so just enjoy being out there on the water trying to catch your fish. ? ?

Saltwater estuary fish strike hard and are fun to catch. The fish were not large enough to keep. We used a combination of bottom fishing, bobber fishing, and lures. The fish stopped biting around 11am.

The fishing was great but the weather and water conditions could have been better. It was cold, windy, and the water was a bit rough. The captain, his helper, the boat and equipment was great, but next time (for the sake of my twin 12 year olds who got a bit sea sick) we will fish during a warmer and calmer time of year. Speaking strictly fishing, we were catching fish constantly and a great variety of fish which made up for the tough weather conditions. Scott was easy going and tried to make everyone feel comfortable.

Watch the weather and dress appropriately. Dress in layers. 20 miles offshore The weather is different than at the dock. Usually windier and colder. You can always remove layers. Don’t forget Sun screen and polarized sun glasses.

They provide everything- best thing is to listen and take their guidance as they are the experts for sure! Do t hesitate to ask questions as they are very kind and love talking about fishing and they point out things in the ocean we would have missed- jellyfish- turtles-dolphins- manatee.

Book a guide that is very familiar with the area and knows how to work a Garman. Highly recommend Chubby mullet charters. Hauls in several reds 35 lbs are better also snook , Colt cleaned the ones we limited out on and let’s us know as restaurant where they fish could be cook it was excellent and fun.

Be prepared to catch 90 % red snapper. They fight hard and make for an excellent experience. Too bad you cannot keep for the dinner plate but that's what happens with the federal government oversight, they make rules that make no sense.

Take ginger ale or ginger chews with you. Motion sickness pills don't work as good. Decide what you are going to do with the catch you keep before you go. Expect to have to throw back a lot that are too small or out of season.

Listen and learn from your Charter Captain. They know the water, fish, and techniques. Do not miss the scenery. It is wonderful.

Talk to the Captain to see what’s biting. Not all species are in the area year round.

Do your homework on which charter you should choose as they are all not the same

Fishing was a little slow because of an incoming storm but that also meant that there were fewer boats out and we had all the choice spots available for as long as we wanted!

It’s first week of August and we limited out 2 hours early. As most know, they don’t always bite this way but today was a great day for fishing!

The sun can be brutal, especially on the water - be prepared with sunscreen, wear the right clothing, and shoes are optional.

Find someone reputable who’s been living here a long time, they know the spots a lot of the new charter captains don’t.

Weather permitting there's a lot of good inshore fishing. A lot of different species are out there and they're a blast to catch!

If the red fish bite is on you will have a great time! The mangrove-sheepshead- etc fun to catch too!

September brings almost daily rain. Bring a hard shell jacket so when something kicks up, you are prepared.

They say August isn’t the best time to be out fishing but we had amazing time with Captain Steve. Give him a call!

Bring your children this was a wonderful trip with a wonderful captain and co-captain. They were warm and friendly and extremely patient.

The hot sun becomes very intense in the afternoon. Make sure to drink lots of fluids and bring an umbrella or something for shade. We cut our trip short because the sun was too intense for us.
