What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Destin, Florida for the first time?

The fishing is great when you have a captain who knows what he's doing. Had a great time. Will charter again the next time I'm in Destin

Verify what you are going to catch, I personally thought we would be catching bigger fish. Also fish booker made it nearly impossible to get in touch with the captain prior to our trip.

The family had a great time. Although my son would have wanted to fish for a bigger variety of fish. We should have asked more questions at booking. But it was a great experience.

Find a local who knows the sports and the gear to use. This makes for a very successful and fun time.

Bring food and drinks. Take motion sickness medication an hour before the trip. Be respectful respected practice is to tip your crew at the end of the trip.

Ask the captain to catch bait before you get there so you won't lose an hour of your fishing time watching him throw a cast net for not only your trip but also other trips after yours.

Check the fish calender before you book, to make sure what fish are in season and what all is availible to keep.

If it’s a first time, book with a knowledgeable captain to have them share a wealth of information for the most success.

Head out on an early morning fishing run before the water heats up too much or temperature gets too hot to enjoy the time.

It’s HOT in Destin in July, drink plenty f water and you’ll be fine and have a blast catching all kinds of sea creatures.

4hr trip to catch dinner. The longer trips they will run further for larger fish. The 4hr is best for fun day on the water.

Make sure you book your trip with specific fish in mind that you want to catch to make the experience you want.

Make sure to bring sunscreen and definitely recommend a long sleeve sun shirt (with hood if available)

Destin offers great Gulf of Mexico fishing. Try to go earlier in the summer to give yourself the best chance.

i would recommend to wear sunscreen, bring water and snacks and maybe bring a hand towel to wipe you hands off on

Try to get in a boat with Chris from Shoal River Outdoors. Got us in fish and kept us catching the whole trip.

Plan to have one of the local restaurants prepare your fresh catch when your done, it makes the trip!

Talk with the captain and review the fish that our in season so you know what would be good to bring back for good eating.

It’s hard to be patient enough to catch a big fish but if you are patient enough and you can wait until the fish is on its 10000009% worth it

Make sure your captain has license to go out far enough, more than 9 mi, if you want to fish wrecks.

Make sure you bring plenty of water. If you are sensitive to heat, bring an ice water jug w tags in it. We also dunked the kids shirts in. Cooked them right down.

Go early in the morning- as early as you can!!! It’s brutally hot later and the fish are not as active

First time going on a fishing trip in Florida I would say listen to the captain and first mate very knowledgeable guys they will put you in a position to succeed you just had to listen.

I'd say if you just want to get your feet wet, take a 4 hour tour close in shore or bay area, so you spend more time fishing. If you won't to go further offshore fishing, no less than a 6 hour tour.

Book a small charter, less than 6 persons for the trip so that the Captain may give you the attention you need so you may learn for future trips.

My first fishing trip and we caught our limit & have a ton of fish to cook up/take home. I’d say the fishing is pretty good considering most of the family are not avid fishers.
