- After a college degree and two tours of duty in Viet Nam for the US Army, John fell in love with Costa Rica’s world class sport fishing. His passion led to founding Sportfishing Quepos on the Pacific Coast with a fleet of seven boats. Returning to Southwest Florida after 38 years in Central America, John established Backcountry Flats Fishing guiding clients into the Everglades National Park targeting Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, Speckled Trout and Black Drum. He recently relocated to Florida’s Northwest Panhandle offering light tackle and fly rod enthusiasts flats fishing charters in the unique bayous, marshes, inlets and crystal clear white sand flats of Florida’s famed Emerald Coast. John is an active member in many organizations including: Florida Guide Association (FGA), Fly Fishers International (FFI), Bonefish Tarpon Trust (BTT), Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) and is a current member of Panhandle Fly Fishers, Fly Fishers of Northwest Florida and Naples Backcountry Fly Fishers

- Sportfishing in Southwest Florida is light tackle, light line spinning gear or bait casters for Snook, Sea Trout, Redfish, Black Drum, Jack Crevalle, Ladyfish, Mangrove Snapper and Tarpon. Flats boat fishing in the shallow waters, beaches, mangrove keys, shoals and passes of 10,000 Islands and Everglades National Park. Catch and release is practiced with strict observation of Florida daily catch regulations. These shallow waters are perfectly suited for fly fishing aboard my Action Craft 18 ft, FlatsMasters boat equipped with push pole , trolling motor, Lowrance HDS-5 Chart Plotter, GPS, and Depth Sounder to fish the deep channels, passes and back bays. Live bait fishing may include threadfin herrings, pinfish, mullet, live shrimp and pilchards. Leadhead jigs with bucktail or soft tail plastics to probe the beaches, shorelines and back bays as well as and array of artificals, crank baits and spoons attract a wide variety of gamefish.
