My wife and I went out with Captain Barry.  We had great weather for the day.  Captain Barry chose to go to the bay rather than follow the other 18 boats back to where they caught reds the day before.  Great choice!  We were on fish right away.  No reds, but we caught trout.  Hits on every cast.  And a bonus Black Drum.  When the bite slowed he moved us to another spot and we were on fish again, but bigger this time.  To top it off we had dolphins all around us at the end of the day swimming right up to the boat and chasing after the fish we hooked.  Captain Barry was great to fish with and talk to.  We had a great day with him.  Afterward, he cleaned out fish while we went and had a beer at Joe’s Landing.  We took some our fish to Jan’s Cajun restaurant where they grilled and fried our fish and it was fantastic.
We highly recommend giving Big Dog Charters a try.  They do it right!

My husband and I wanted to have a new fishing experience (cork bobber fishing in the bayou) for our anniversary while in New Orleans. We booked it a few days ahead and they were able to accommodate us with no problem. We spent the day with Captain Chad…my husband knows a lot of captains and worked on a party boat for 20 years, and he said Chad was a great captain! He made sure we caught some fish and he took us to many spots instead of sitting in one or two unfruitful spots for hours. We visit NOLA often and we plan to try to book with Captain Chad when we come back over and over again. Such a great day in spite of the windy and cold conditions and no alligator sightings….thanks Big Dog Fishing Charters!

I’m a frequent visitor to the area but this was my hunter-fisherman husband’s first time. He asked our amazing guide, “China” to put us on big fish. We went out on the 0600 launch and I got to catch the “smaller” reds to filet & take home. He then took us out and Wowsa - we were definitely on BIG fish! For nearly 4 hours, we had fish on that were fighting and so much fun to reel in! Our arms were sore and I’ve got bruises on my hip/thigh area as these fish fight! We stopped taking pictures because we were always bringing one in. My husband was impressed and this is quite hard to do when it comes to sports fishing as he does this regularly.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! And ask for China if you can get him - he’s a local who has been guiding since 1999. And he even made it into a swamp tour, getting gators to pop up.

We went for a 5 hour tour yesterday and caught our maximum Redfish in only an hour and a half! It was a great day and he was very helpful with helping my boyfriends mom cast and reel and resetting our hooks. It was a great day!

It was tough fishing conditions, but we managed to catch about 20 fish of 5 different species. Captain Chad is a great guy to spend time with on the water. He has been fishing in that area for many years, so he is very knowledgable about the fishery. We had one person on our trip that has only been fishing once since the 70’s as a young girl, and he even managed to help her catch a redfish :-)
