This is by far the best deep sea fishing trip we have ever booked. We caught a total of 12 fish with 6 different species. Our captain and crew were outgoing and knew all the hot spots. Snacks and beverages were provided. The crew helped us filet our catches. Ready to come back to Costa Rica and relive this experience!

These guys really work hard to put you on the fish and are an absolute blast to fish with.

We did catch a big mahi mahi, which was great.

However, I was honestly quite disappointed because the 5+ hours fishing trips only had 2 bites IN TOTAL. Was it bad luck or something else? I believe it is the latter but you can see if you agree with me. This is how the trip went:

We did trolling for 2+ hours. Absolutely nothing happened until we got to near an island. We got the 2 bites within 30 minutes and caught a big mahi. It was great.

But we didn’t stay there. We left the area as soon as we got the mahi and started trolling all the way back for another 2+ hours with exactly 0 bites. Nada!

To me, it was quite obvious that we should stay near the island and we could drive back quicker without trolling. I have no idea why the captain decided to do it his way.  We had enough time to spend near the island. I think an experienced captain would have cut even the first part of the trip short and got to near the island asap.

I talked to others who went on fishing trips on the same morning and they seemed to have caught 6 fishes each at least.
