Are you ready for the Key Largo flats fishing trip of your dreams? Whether you’re heading to the Everglades, Biscayne Bay, or staying in the Keys, there are plenty of fishing hotspots to wet your line in. It's best to book with a local guide, so every minute of your vacation is used to its full potential.
Trip Types
Trip lengths vary from 4–8 hours. Key Largo flats fishing guides know all the best places to take you, so the ride from the dock to the fishing grounds won't be too long.
You’ll spend the day fishing from a skiff. These are stable and light, allowing you to maneuver into hard to reach areas to target your prey in their habitat.
Due to the size of the boat, group sizes will also be smaller. This allows you to have your lines in the water longer. Be aware of the space available and leave your large coolers and any unecessary gear at home.
Trips are not usually species-specific, which gives you the option to target Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, Snook, Jack Crevalle, Redfish, Trout, and even Sharks all in one trip. If you have a particular species in mind that you wish to target, just let the captain know before the day of the trip.
How to Prepare
Have your camera ready! As well as a variety of fish species, you’ll see a lot of other wildlife, including gators and flamingos.
You’ll mostly be sight fishing, so have a good pair of sunglasses with you. If you can get a polarized pair with a brown or amber tint, do! For the serious angler, bring your polarized shades with side shields.
The fishing license for the day is usually included in the price of the trip. You will need to bring along food and drinks.

The character and approach of the captain matters. Captain needs to listen to his customers and not choose what suits him better. I would highly recommend Jason even if we would have no fish on the boat but we did .

We really deferred to Pete’s expertise on where to go and when. He gave us a call on our first scheduled day and said the seas were going to be rough, and suggested that while he’d be happy to take us out, we might want to reschedule. Glad he did that as the day we went was perfect.

Fellow anglers, you really need to be prepared by wearing a hat, good UV blocking sunglasses, suntan lotion, bug spray, boat shoes, and perhaps a light weight long-sleeved fishing shirt with a hood. If you think anyone in your party might be susceptible to motion sickness then make sure you bring Bonine or Dramamine. Happy fishing.

Be patient and help find the fish!! We looked for weed lines, structure, anything that holds fish. Stay alert because when you find them it gets wild pulling Mahi off a giant school of fish! I have fished here several times but this was my first Rodeo. Gotta have baits in the water to catch them. :-). Go get em.

The summer is busy along with winter season - book your fishing trips out by a couple months as you don’t want to not get on that water! And don’t forget about mini open lobster season in July as it will be very busy!

It is super hot in Key Largo in June. If you're fishing it will be deep sea trolling, otherwise you'll pass out from the sun. Go in an earlier month for reef fishing.
