River Fishing

The river is well-known for a great deal of Smallmouth Bass and is also filled with plenty of Walleye, Catfish, and smaller Panfish. Every serious fly fisherman knows that it can hardly get any better than targeting Trout in this area. Whether you’re out to get Brown, Lake, or Steelhead Trout, you only need to focus on streams and creeks that bring extra cold water.
If you’re a beginner, you can start with spots full of stocked Trout, since they’re easy to fool and will bite more often than wild Trout. If you’re interested in targeting Carp, visit in spring during their spawning season. For all night-owl anglers out there, catfishing is the best in early spring.
Lake Erie
You’ll find that winter and spring are slow on Lake Erie – the real action begins when it gets warmer. When the temperature rises, the fish move to deeper waters, and this happens to be the perfect time for targeting trophy Walleye. Salmon and Steelhead are usually caught with downriggers, while Perch is best to target by bottom fishing, using live minnows as bait. Lake Erie also has an incredible population of Smallmouth Bass, which is slowly becoming a very popular target for fly fishing.

My brother-in-law and I booked a trip blindly knowing nothing about fishing the Great Lakes or about Mr. Rose. We were pleasantly surprised by both! Capt Mark put us on some good fish catching 3 or 4 over 5 lbs and several others between 2-4 lbs. Overall great trip and would certainly suggest looking up Capt Rose for some fun.

I had a awesome time with Captain Austin. Everything was great. Caught two big flatheads in the low 30 pound range and two in the upper 30 pound range along with a handful of fish in the teens. He moved around to find where the fish were and his knowledge of the river was key in locating the fish. Highly recommended!

Captain Mark was great. The weather had been bad for 3-4 days before, but we had a nice day on the lake. The fish were not biting but Mark took us to 5 or 6 locations until we found some. My grandson had a great time. We will come back.

The Captain was extremely knowledgeable in casting to the right depth to catch fish. The waters were a little rougher than forecast, but the boat handled the waters well. My grandson got to reel in two 18-inch long walleye and as the photos show, he was delighted!

Captain Matt was great. Explained the evening before that the lake would be a little rough but agreed to take us out for an am charter. We limited out on walleye in 3 hours with other fish being caught also. He wanted to continue fishing for steelhead stating we still had time to limit on them but we chose to return to the dock. We will definitely be back when the lake is calmer!

My brother-in-law and I booked a trip blindly knowing nothing about fishing the Great Lakes or about Mr. Rose. We were pleasantly surprised by both! Capt Mark put us on some good fish catching 3 or 4 over 5 lbs and several others between 2-4 lbs. Overall great trip and would certainly suggest looking up Capt Rose for some fun.

I had a awesome time with Captain Austin. Everything was great. Caught two big flatheads in the low 30 pound range and two in the upper 30 pound range along with a handful of fish in the teens. He moved around to find where the fish were and his knowledge of the river was key in locating the fish. Highly recommended!

Captain Jack is such a nice guy with incredible knowledge of all things Lake Erie! From start to finish, the experience was comfortable, exciting, and productive! So many fish! Captain Mark was great. The weather had been bad for 3-4 days before, but we had a nice day on the lake. The fish were not biting but Mark took us to 5 or 6 locations until we found some. My grandson had a great time. We will come back.

First of all great communication on some weather in the area. Then even with some rough lake and fishing conditions Capt Dan was still able to get us on the fish and limit out, with a good amount of throw backs. Great time with a great crew!!!
