Рыбалка – река Саванна

The Savannah River forms most of the border between South Carolina and Georgia and is an important US waterway. Aside from supplying drinking water to major cities on its route, it supports a large variety of fish species. Anglers embarking on a Savannah River fishing adventure will encounter all the freshwater fish they could dream of, as well as a few saltwater favorites!

In the upper and middle sections of the river, you’ll hook into freshwater species including Brook, Brown, and Rainbow Trout, as well as Yellow Perch and Crappie. And of course, there’s a variety of Bass, including Largemouth, Smallmouth, Spotted, and Striped, making for great topwater action.

As you make your way down to the lower section of the river, which is much more like an estuary, you’ll add certain saltwater fish to your list. Redfish, Flounder, Speckled Trout, Alligator Gar, and even Sturgeon make appearances in fishing towns beyond Savannah.

How much time you spend on the water depends primarily on what you plan to target. If you’re a beginner or just hoping to go home with a few tasty fish in the cooler, a half day trip does the trick. More experienced anglers looking to do battle with Striped and Hybrid Bass or hook their limits of Trout would benefit from a full day on the water.

The Savannah River’s source is at Lake Hartwell. From there, it meanders south for just over 300 miles before emptying out into the Atlantic Ocean. The two largest cities on its route are Augusta and Savannah, and you’ll find plenty of charter captains here and in smaller towns along the way.

Правила и положения

Georgia and South Carolina’s reciprocal fishing agreement allows you to fish the border waters of the Savannah River System, regardless of which state’s fishing license you hold. That said, all anglers over the age of 16 will need to purchase one before heading out.

река Саванна – сезоны

January

One of the best things about fishing in winter is Crappie! You’ll find schools of these fish in the upper and middle sections of the river.

February

What other fish loves colder waters? Bass, of course! If you’re hoping to battle it out with a Striper or land a record-breaking Spotted Bass, February is your month.

March

Bass continue to reign supreme as we move into March. You’ll find Hybrid and Striped Bass making runs up the river to feed.

April

Yep, Bass is in the cards in April too. This is the best time of year to hook into Largemouth Bass in the Savannah River and you’ll also have a shot at tasty Rainbow Trout.

May

Bluegill, Catfish, and Largemouth Bass are up for grabs as we settle into spring. The large number of bait fish in the river sets fishing on fire!

June

It’s your best month to hook into what some argue is the most delicious of its kind – Brook Trout! Give yourself a little extra time on the water, catching this fish requires skill and patience.

July

It’s summertime, and boy can you feel it! Head out early to beat the heat while you fish for massive Catfish. In the upper sections of the river, anglers are still battling it out with Largemouth Bass.

August

It’s hot and most of the river’s fish are seeking cooler waters. The deeper the water, the more likely you are to come across a variety of Bass. Alternatively, head out in search of Tarpon where the river empties into the Atlantic.

September

Early fall can be one of the best times on the river! The waters are cooling and the crowds are gone, meaning you’ll have all the Spotted Bass and Catfish to yourself.

October

Speckled Trout and Redfish start to move into the lower sections of the river, as they seek out shallower waters. Further north, you can try for Largemouth Bass and Catfish.

November

If you’re hoping to snag some of those saltwater fish, this is your best chance. Speckled Trout and Redfish make moves in the lower sections of the river.

December

December might as well be called “Bass month.” Striped, Hybrid, Largemouth, and Smallmouth are all available in different sections of the river and the surrounding waterways.
