I don't think it was the best time of year for the atea but we had fun and caught fish.

Get your fishing license several days in advance. Can take a couple of hours if there are people ahead of you in line.

Lots of variety of fish make sure you got your red fish tag if you get a great catch

Expect to get a little wet and a little dirty with fish and bait slime and water.

Understand the time of year your are fishing and set your expectations appropriately. Communicate with the captain in advance of cooking to get fishing reports and ask the types of fish that are being caught and how many. We did these things and the trip turned out as expected.

Great experience. Our day was a bit windy which made it cold. But the diversity of fish we caught was amazing!

Just check the wind speed. We went out on a pretty windy day and we still caught some but im sure it's much nicer out there when the wind is calm

Don’t hesitate it was worth it captain Mike definitely knows his stuff on the water highly recommend using him definitely would dress warm. I was remember you can take clothes off you can’t put clothes on if you don’t have them it was chilly. That was one thing I wish my son would have done was dress a little warmer lol other than that great time great memories

Fish are always biting in Galveston somewhere! March can get windy but you will find fish wherever you go

Pay attention to the weather. You want to monitor the rain and wind as much as possible. It will determine how good your first experience turns out.

I know you can never do anything about the weather but if you have a trip with wind forecasted be prepared you may not have a great experience and may not catch fish. But as I have always heard and I say, that is why they call it fishing and not catching.

Listen to Capt. Bubba, he knows his stuff! And, if you listen, you will catch a bunch! Very attentive and helping you with bait immediately to get your pole back in the water. We weren’t professionals and it was nice to have help but not make you feel incompetent.

Galveston gets busy on the weekends. Allow for travel time to get to your pickup location. The weather and water conditions change daily so prepare for that clothing and time wise. Maybe allow for some flexibility in your schedule if time, conditions, and your captain allow for it. Stay in touch with your Captain pre trip.

Not flats fishing. Be prepared for some 4 plus foot seas but the fishing was fire.

enjou your trip with the weather, the clear lake and galveston bay are great fishing spots.

The older captains have great wisdom, but the young bucks are working hard to prove themselves. Liam, a young buck was outstanding. He got us on the fish early and often.

Depending on the time of the year, you will catch the species of fish that are moving. We fished the jetty’s and during the 2nd week of March you can expect to catch mostly Sheep head and Black drum. You cannot keep the bigger Black drum. Sheep head are great eating though.

Call Captain Rene if this is your first time ocean fishing. He’s been doing this for a long time and knows the best spots.

The best time to catch redfish and sheep fish is during the spawning season and the best time for shark fishing is in the summer months especially July.
